Grace0609 (an ear infection question)

Hi.

I just saw in your reply to another thread that one of your LO's had tubes.

Wondering if I could pick your brain. LO also has an ear infection. DX with it last Monday. She is definitely getting better... (cough has improved as has massively running nose and general demeanor). Once she got 24 hours of antibiotics in her system she had three great nights of sleep. Since then she has had three AWFUL nights. Last night she would only sleep if I held her. Her and I literally slept with her on my chest for a few hours. When I took her in the pedi told me it was her ears keeping her up and not the four teeth she is cutting at once, so this latest development makes me wonder if her infection is not clearing?

I would love to hear your thoughts from your own experience!

I'm butting in here, because LO has had 3 or 4 ear infections in his short 9 months, and it took three different kinds of ABX to finally knock it out. But the ear infections usually happened while he was also teething. So whether or not the sleep probs are due to ear infections or cutting teeth is sort of an unknown... Maybe try giving some advil or tylenol before bed tonight and fingers crossed!

I've been giving her Mortin at night before bed. I admit I tried to cut it out Friday night and then that was our first bad night so I gave it to her in the middle of the night..... I took her in this afternoon; the verdict is still pretty much out. Infection is still there - getting better but not where it should be for 8 days of meds. They gave us 5 more days - I hope that's enough. Also, the pedi told me not to worry and to keep on the Motrin at night!!! No need to convince me. Really hope tonight is better - I am exhausted.
