@mwhipple77 Really? I feel like you've been around forever.
I'm not the boss of the board, but for regs who didn't become regs until after we had our babies, I would love to read your stories and would not be opposed to you adding them now.
I joined in September (I think it was) and only looked at the third tri board. So maybe that's why it seems like I've been around longer? That or I'm just super annoying and it seems like its been FOREVER. Kind of like a marriage always seems longer than it really is?
Evelyn Della was born November 15th, 3 days past her EDD. We were admitted to the hospital on 11/13 at 7 pm and began induction. I progressed SLOWLY. Finally by 2am on 11/15, I had finally dilated and she was ready, pushed for two hours and she was born at 4:45am on the 15th weighing 7 lbs 12 ozs and was 20.5" long. She had a bowel movement before she delivered, so they let me hold her for about 5 seconds (first thing I said when I saw her "She's so beautiful") and they took her away. I went to the nursery at 9:30 and cried when I first saw her again. DH walked into me crying and he started crying too. Here she is the afternoon she was born, alert and ready to take on the world! And one of the professional portraits done in the hospital. I was too tired to put on makeup, I kind of wish I had tried harder. But considering I originally said I didn't want a pic taken, I'm really glad I did. I can't believe how much I love this little girl.
My story was kind of sad, which is one reason I never posted last year. Also, I was more of a lurker then. But it has a happy ending, so here it goes.
H and E were born on October 18, 2013 via scheduled c-section. Both of them were breach, so that was my only option. All of my doctors said I wouldn't make it that long (I was 37w6d), but I never went into labor. It was scheduled for 9, so we had to be there by 7. We woke up super early and drove to the hospital on a crisp fall day.
Despite numerous ultrasounds, the MFM missed a diagnosis of IUGR (Intrauterine growth restriction) for E. At some point she stopped growing because she wasn't getting enough nutrients from the placenta. At an ultrasound at 34 weeks, she was estimated to be 4 pounds, 2 ounces. However, she was only 3 pounds, 3 ounces and 16 ounces at birth. Those estimates have a margin or error, but this was doctor error. Besides the need to gain weight, she had dangerously low blood sugar levels. She stayed in the NICU at the small hospital where I delivered for a week before being transferred to a level 3 NICU. They were able to put in a pic line and give a higher concentrate of sugar. She made great progress there until they started to wean her from the sugar. She would crash every time and the doctors were at a loss for why she couldn't control her sugar levels. It was a super scary time. She was eventually diagnosed with hyperinsulinemia (kind of the opposite of diabetes). Fortunately, it's controlled by medication (surgery in severe cases, but E's is mild). After 6 weeks in the hospital, E was able to come home, just in time for Thanksgiving. We have to check her blood every day, but the medication has done wonders for her.
H was 5 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 inches long. He was perfectly healthy and stayed with me in the room until discharge. It was very sad to only go home with one, but he enjoyed being an only child for a few weeks.

Stella Mae born on 11/30/13 at 9:45 pm, weighting 7.4 lbs and 19.75". She was originally due on 11/25. But that came and went. I was having pre-term labor for the two previous weeks and was ready to have her. My dh and I went out for a spicy mexican dinner the night before. I woke up in the middle of the night to some preterm labor and then the real labor pains started...and got worse. I knew this was it and we headed for the hospital. I was proud that I had made it to 8 cm w/o drugs but boy was I ready for them. Then nothing happened...for 18 hours. She was turned to the side so it was a c/s for us. I have never seen my dh so scared. Recovery was rough but hearing her cry for the first time was one of the best moments of my life. I was so excited to hear and finally meet her. I think for the first month we were totally in aww...well we still are:) Thanks for letting me share my story so late. Here is a picture of the day after I had her.
Re: Birth Announcements
He's completely adorable and we are so in love with him. Every time I look at him my heart swells with so much joy I could cry.
