tea tree oil?

I've been using a tea tree oil lotion for my breakouts my whole pregnancy. The only thing my OB said to avoid was anything with too much salisyic acid. Sorry for the spelling I'm on my phone..i just read in one of my books last night that willow bark is salisyic acid I had no idea and its in the lotion. It doesn't list how much and its way down in the list. But i also read that pregnant women
should avoid tea tree oil. Anyone hear of this? I'm a little freaked out now and I'm not going to use it until I check with Ob...Just curious if anyone else us using it?

Edit posted too soon because my phone hates me.

I'm sure I will and that he is fine but I was just a little surprised to see that it says to avoid tea tree oil. I couldn't find anything online to really say why.

  • I use tto in my home made soaps every day. It's in my body wash too. I've used it for ever.

Glad I'm not the only one using it. It works so well on my face.

  • I've never heard that either. I actually use Belli skincare products, which is specifically for pregnant women and some of their products contain tea tree oil. I think there are just differing opinions, but I'm going to assume it's safe.

Probably. Just like benzoyl proxide....my Ob says that's fine but I've read different things... I'm going to run it past my Ob to be safe. :)

  • I use it in my sons wipe solution and in a lotion that I made, but its such a small amount that I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure that store bought stuff is much worse since you really have no idea what's in it!
