Stroller suggestions for STM

I have been looking at double strollers for a while now, DS will be almost 4 when this little one arrives so I am thinking that I won't need a double.  I have been looking at the Joovy Caboose and I really like it, just wondering if any of you ladies have one or have another suggestion.  I don't want anything too big and bulky.

Re: Stroller suggestions for STM

  • Great question. I was thinking I'd ask in the Spring.

  • I have the Baby Jogger City Select but I needed the double stroller option. It will work as a single as well.
  • I posted a similar question on my bmb from my first kid and the overwhelming majority recommended the Bob or the city mini double. That bring said, everyone agreed they were both big and bulky (I was looking for more of a side by side umbrella). So I'm still on the prowl. But those two did seem pretty popular.

  • You are in a bit different situation. My kids are 19 month apart so I needed something more than a sit n stand type. I have a perego side by side, a ubban mountain buggy side by side and then picked up a sit n stand at a garage sale. I also had an older hand me down that was front to bag. No doubt my favorites are the sbs. My two front to backs were really hard to push and the kids would kick each other. Even the sns was light weight but it was hard to turn with the kids weight. It really depends on your needs. What do you do on the weekends- zoos, mall, outside stuff, lots of walking or just some errands here and there? If you are big on big trips like the zoo/amusement parks, I would get a city mini double. It is definitely lighter than most other doubles and it will be an easier push. If you are big on hiking or outdoorsy walks/events in grass, a bob would be nice, but a lot of money, from what I remember. I hear the joovys are the best in the sns class, but even so, I can imagine it still being a tougher push compared to other sbs. Lastly, you might want to consider a MacLaren sbs. Lightweight and your youngest can be in reasonably early (3 ish months) if it has a good recline/support. It would be the best for errands, etc. It depends on your lifestyle/needs. Ultimately, you can wait and see once baby comes and baby wear until you decide on your investment. GL!

  • We got the Uppababy vista. I'm a FTM but I bought it exactly for this reason, as were hoping to have two kids within 2 years of each other. It looks, feels and weighs like a single stroller, but it gives you the option of adding a second seat for a slightly older child. I think the second seat accommodates little ones weighing between 30-55lbs, and the nice thing is, the two kids can either face each other or go one after the other like in a traditional "double" stroller. That being said, it doesn't accommodate twins because it only allows for one car seat to clip in, and like I said, the second seat requires a min of 30lbs.

It's been the first thing we've purchased for baby (I'm 13 weeks exactly), and I've been folding it and unfolding it every day lol
  • We have the baby jogger city mini single. We love that stroller! Use it everyday. Our daughter will be 2 years, 4 months when this one is born so we need a double. We are going to be getting the bumbleride indie twin. I personally prefer side by side over front to back. They are wider yes but easier to push I think. Also good for jogging which my husband does daily. I do like the sit and stands as well and would consider that if I had kids your age. For all day trips though like disney, I think the side by sides are good for bigger kids who need a rest as well.

  • Thanks for all of the suggestions.  We have a BOB single and we love it for jogging, but it is very bulky.  I couldn't imagine having a double!  We love going to Disney World, so my hubby has based our search on how easy it would be for the Disney buses, haha.  We like the Joovy, the Britax B-agile, and the Maclaren.  I think we are just going to have to go to the store and decide what will be best.

  • I love love love my citi mini single. If I get a double I will get the city mini double. We love disney too and so many people have the city minis and they are so easy to open and close. That is the stroller of choice to rent down there

  • We're doing the baby jogger city select. Most places you can get the extra seat for free when you buy the stroller.
  • Curious if anyone has a double BOB? We already have a single and I love it! Makes jogging so much easier and smooth. I'm thinking about a double jogging stroller now for this summer. Considering a double BOB if we can find a gently used one in craigslist....but I haven't heard too much about other good double jogging strollers.
