  • I've only bought LO christmas gifts so far.

I guess my confession is the opposite. We haven't gotten J anything for Christmas- we have so much stuff already and I know our families are going to go crazy and we just don't have the money (I will end up doing a few small things this weekend for his stocking so we can take some photos) ... Next year when he can open will be another story.
This is us, too. He has everything he needs, and my sister already got the jumperoo we were planning. He also keeps getting toys from my nephew, so we haven't had to buy anything really.

Another... DH and I spoil the shit out of each other for Christmas every year. We don't do a lot of gifts at any other time but Christmas is insane. My mom made a comment last year about how ridiculous it was. The way I see it, we busted our asses to get to where we are today & if we want to blow a bunch of money at Christmas then so be it. I realize this can sound snobby (at least that's what mom says) and I don't mean it that way. Things weren't always so great, we had our share of Charlie Brown Christmases.
We spoil each other too.  I am sure it will be different when we have more kids and they get older but I want DH to know that he deserves something for all  his hard work in life and in our marriage.  If we don't give each other nice things then who will?

  • I finished all if my Christmas shopping a couple weeks ago with one exception: I haven't bought anything for DH. It's like my creative gift giving brain has gone on strike with LO around. I don't want to get DH something boring or expected, so I've been sitting around waiting for inspiration to strike...

This is my confession, too. We haven't bought one thing for lo. I feel bad but he wont Even know...his grandmas will make up for it! Maybe I will wrap his new high chair and let him "open" it.

I'm doing the same thing! It doesn't help that DH buys himself whatever he wants during the year so I have to get extra outside the box.

So the nerd in me had to go look this up.  EVEN THOUGH the G stands for Graphic the inventor  of the format (Steve Wilhite) insists it's prounounced "jif".  This makes no sense to me at all.

  • I think this might just be flamable to people i know irl but ill confess it. I dont think a&e was wrong taking phil robertson off the air. I also dont think his right to freedom of speech was violated. He said what he said he wasnt arrested but a&e also had the right to essentially fire him.

  • My confession is I was totally jealous reading all the love yesterday! Guess I need to get more involved!
    same here!
  • I'm not sure if this is really a confession or should have been on yesterday's UO thread. I don't think it's right that people fail to plan for their families in the event of a disaster/freak accident and instead rely on the kindness and generosity of others to get them through it. For example: when your house burns down, you have no insurance, and yet complain that others aren't helping you get back on your feet by donating money or items; when your husband tragically dies in a vehicle accident at the age of 32 and leaves a wife and two children behind, with no life insurance policy to even cover the burial costs, and donations are taken to help the family; when your baby (18 months) gets sick and ends up in the hospital for a few weeks, instead of alternating time with the child both spouses take unpaid leave of absence and then set up an online account and seek donations to pay their living expenses through facebook.
All of these situations I have personally seen in the last month. I just don't understand the no life/home/renters insurance thing. Even when I made didley squat fresh out of college I had renter's insurance and a life insurance policy that was enough to bury my butt. I could kind of see the family with the sick baby, but the way they went about it was terrible. Then to post updates about just sitting around. One of them could have gone to work. I've been in that position with a sick baby in the hospital. We were lucky enough to be able to afford that both of us could be there. But there was a time that we thought my husband was going to have to leave us there because he was running out of paid leave days. If it had come to that, he would have.

I realize to some this probably makes me sound like a complete and utter biotch. Oh well! There's my confession! Flame away if you must.

So we went to see Santa. And mother of the year over here didn't bring a diaper bag because it was going to be quick.

I was right, it was a quick in and out picture. Like 10 mins total.

But little turkey man decided to shit himself just as we were pulling into the mall. So he sat on santas lap with a poopy diaper.

what magical place do you live in that you can get in and out of the mall in 10 min and not have a line for santa!!

It took me 10 minutes just to find a parking spot yesterday!

visiting my sister in tiny ass east Texas. Yay for small town livin'
@lisarene77 I'm just a jump away from ya in Nacogdoches visiting.

I'd never go to see Santa in Dallas. That's a breakdown waiting to happen.
  • @chattychica, your posts make me want to bitch slap your inlaws, sometimes. ok ok! most of the time.

WTF!? you better let me know next time you're coming this way. That's only an hour away. I swear we need to organize a Texas A13 get together. I've been thinking about it a LOT lately. There are quite a few of us.

  • DH thinks I can't load the dishwasher properly.  The fact is that I know how to load it. I just choose not to.  I hate doing dishes, even if it just means loading the dishwasher.  I also won't put them away.
