MH was there yesterday during both. I don't think he saw much though because he was sitting behind the OB.

ETA:  The OB complimented me on my ability to relax my lady parts after she told me to. She then said I should teach her other patients how to do that. DH is going to bring that up again when I least expect it.
Teach me!!!  My OB complained that I was going to break her hand!  :(  It makes the cervical checks a lot more painful for me because I really cannot relax.

To answer the original question, my husband has been to almost all of my appointments.  We did GBS and cervical check yesterday and he just stood by my side and held my hand.  Didn't see anything because of the sheet, but then helped me get dressed afterwards.  I am not worried about him seeing things like nudity or a swab/probe.  More worried about "blood and guts" during labor, personally.
But I do think that his being there to hold my hand, ask questions, and listen to the doctor's advice is his way of showing that he wants to be involved and supportive.  He has off days in the middle of the week instead of weekends and has asked me to schedule all of my appointments on his days off so he can be there.  He wasn't as adamant about it at first, though.  After one or two appointments where I came home upset about the way the OB was treating me, he said he didn't want me to have to go without him.  Long story, but he stands up for me.

  • DH has been to every appointment and will continue to go to everyone until this LO comes. It's our first pregnancy and I want him there as long as he wants to be there. He has no idea what to expect from any of it so being able to talk to the DR or just listen is great. Plus he would be heartbroken if he missed hearing this LO's heartbeat by missing an appt. It works for us and scheduling is NBD. I love how much he wants to be a part of everything.
  • @SunflowersBride I totally agree. There are some guys at work who are always coming in an hour or two late because they're at an appt with their wives. Everybody approaches the pregnancy experience differently.

  • My Strep B is in 2 weeks, but my SO came to the appointment when the pregnancy was confirmed and saw for the 1st time me getting a pap. It doesn't phase him at all and he's seen it all before. He'll probably come to the next apt only because he travels a lot and he can hear the baby's heartbeat.
