Anatomy scan...have to go back in two weeks

We had the anatomy scan today. Baby was moving and grooving in there. The tech was able to get the gender, which we had her write it down in a Christmas card and we will open it christmas morning. But she was not able to see all four chambers of the heart and she could not measure the spine die to the position of baby. Now I have to go back in two weeks. Anyone else have issues like this? I can't help but worry.

Yup. My NP scheduled my anatomy scan ridiculously early and we had to book a second to review the heart. Sounds like you have a busy little one and it was just hard for the tech to pin him or her down long enough to get the necessary views. Keeping a good thought for you!

Yep, same for me as well. Baby was in a terrible position, so there are a bunch more measurements they need. Doesn't sound like you need to worry. It's not like they found something BAD, they just couldn't see all they needed to!

I'm in the same boat our baby boy wouldn't move and his spine was shadowing his heart. He's also measuring big so they are going to check his growth in one month. The tech said it was very normal not to get everything on the first try.

We have a single umbilical artery instead of 2, which causes is some concern. Also they could not view all the areas of the heart so we have to go back 3 weeks from our first a/s. Hopefully the heart is ok (and everything else!). One concern w SUA is heart problems.

With DD we had to come back for heart & face. Still didn't get facial measurements at the 2nd scan but I wasn't worried. I knew they were looking for cleft lip/palate & that can be fixed (though god knows it would suck). I ended up with weekly u/s at 30 weeks & everything checked out fine then. No worries mama

I had this problem with DS and again with this little guy. Both times I had to go back after 4 weeks to get another scan. With DS it was because they couldn't get a picture of the heart that they wanted. I was really worried because I have a heart condition and my cousin was born with a hole in her heart. When I went back they got the picture and everything was fine (plus I got even more great 3D baby pics which was a nice bonus). This time the tech coldn't get a spine picture she wanted so I am going back after another four weeks. She indicated that everything looked fine but due to baby's position she just couldn't get the exact picture they like so she wants me back. I'm not as worried this time around. I think they have their standard pics and if baby isn't cooperating they just need to try again. Try not to worry!

Yea they didn't get to see all of the heart either. My sister had to see a specialist so that they can see everything with the heart. I am not worried, it happens a lot.

Our little girl was wiggling all around yesterday when we went but we couldn't get her to turn to do a clear spine shot so I have to go back as well but everything else looked fine so I'm not worried one bit, just happy that I can now call the baby by her name :P

We are going back on December 31st. Little girl refused to turn out, she allowed beautiful views of her spine and abdomen, refused to show us her heart or face/allow views of the brain. DH and I later saw her face at an elective ultrasound for sex determination and the tech did not see anything to warrant any concerns to call our midwife so that was a relief. The tech at my practice stated that it's normal to not be able to get baby to turn at this point, they tend to favor a position for a few days in a row and that's why they ask you to return 1-3 weeks later.

My little lady tucked her head down too low to get a profile view and one other measurement. I went back the next day and they were able to get what they needed. Try not to worry!

Yep, we have to go back. We we see a perinatologist and she said all looked well yesterday, but wanted us back in two weeks to make sure everything on the brain was fine. So, we are going back on the 31st.

I had my anatomy scan today as well. They were able to see everything they needed to, but I have to go back in 2 weeks also--for another cervical check. I am having twins though, so they're keeping a close eye on me.
