@tna112, @luckyu317 Y'all may be right--I have a gift exchange to go to where you bring a gift with a $20 limit and then exchange- can steal from each other-- they are usually pretty funny- but this year I am drawing a blank--
We are doing one with H's family and our gift in an autographed picture of him. We'll include a sbux gc or something so it's not completely terrible...
I placed a Mug inside a shoebox and filled it with coffee and tea... had lots of unopened herbal blends I could not drink anymore due to being pregnant so I cheated. lol

There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children.
@luckyu317 it's an adult exchange- but kids will be around watching I'm sure. @munchkinmoon I thought about that! Can you buy it in a store, or is online only?
We do one with the cousins every year. I'm missing it this year and I'm so sad sometimes they're funny gag gifts and sometimes they're really good ( like the awesome frame my cousin brought back from Venice beach and the kate spade earrings I won last year). One year someone got a case of natty light and DH bought a beer bong (my dad was really pissed cause all the young cousins got super drunk). Good times.
Our white elephant is usually stuff you don't want. A couple years ago I found cough syrup at my mils that expired in 1998 haha, I have no idea why she still kept it but I took it. Also something my husband and I like to do is steal something from the persons house its at and wrap it up. Its hilarious to see their reaction when someone opens up something that is theirs. Obviously they have to get it back at the end but its still fun.
We did Rumchata last Christmas and people almost got violent over it. It was an adult-only exchange and kids were there.
I've seen some White Elephant parties go bad quickly - namely because my wealthy boss at the time put something EXPENSIVE under the tree and it go "stolen" during the game.
my fiancé did a funny white elephant gift this year.....he bought a plastic container that looks like it holds cookies and he filled it with water and then dropped in a $20 dollar bill and stuck it in the freezer....he stuck a note on top that said not much better than hard cold cash......it was a big hit lol
We did this with friends and some of the gifts were: poopouri, they sell it in select stores for about $12 or you can order online, fancy hand soup/lotion, tazo tea set (this actually was a big hit and stolen the most but depends on the group), lottery tickets/scratch-offs, alcohol/wine (another big hit), stemless wine glasses, electric corkscrew, foreman grill, I will say that some of the best gifts are the worst ones. One time one of our friends framed an autographed picture of himself, it sucks for the person that got it, but it was hilarious for the rest of us to watch him open it.
