Christmas gift ideas for daycare providers?

My girls attend an in home daycare two days a week. The owner has three women that work for her, one who has been around since the beginning, one who is full time but just recently started, and one who seems to be there only intermittently. Trying to get them individual gifts seems unreasonable. I was thinking some kind of gift for everyone would work? Is it weird if I bring in bagels and coffee one morning when I'm off? Any other ideas?

I agree with this. If you know that they drink coffee and eat donuts, then maybe a Dunkin Donuts gift card with a $10 limit each will suffice. DS goes to an in-home DC full time, and there is only one provider. We bought her a large Yankee Candle and put it in a fancy gift bag. That's all that I'm doing consdering she just had a housewarming party and we gave a $50 gift card to Bed, Bath and Beyond for that.

Yep. Target gift cards are our go-to daycare gift.

We did a box of Hershey's Pot of Gold, plus a gift card to Olive Garden. And I let DD scribble with crayons inside the card for her "signature"

I think bagels and coffee is a nice gesture. Really, though, for someone who is essentially employed by you, I think a Christmas bonus (ie cash) is the most appropriate way to go.

Thanks ladies. Keeping your suggestions in mind, I decided to make a basket of goodies for everyone and give a gift card to the owner, who is really the main caretaker. However, now that PP brought up the fact that she is essentially employed by me, I'm stressing about the amount!

Our kids go to a daycare with 10 employees. I always have a hard time with who to get gifts for because there are two teachers in each class then the director and assistant director are in there from time to time. Plus, I always feel like I need to recognize their former teachers because they usually JUST changed classes, so it ends up being like 8 people I want to include. Last year, I just made a tray of cookies for everyone to share. This year I got $5 gift cards for all 10 teachers (because each of them work with my kids at one point or another) and I did this which turned out super cute. I put them in a cello bag with treats along with it.

Your daycare provider takes care of the most important person(s) in your life, therefore a gift for a daycare provider is an important one, so be generous. I wouldn't skimp. In your situation, maybe you could get a higher amount gift for the main daycare provider, and a smaller amount for the helpers. I'm not saying you need to do hundreds of dollars worth, but I think you should get them more than just bagels.

The fact that one of the girls is new shouldn't matter. She will be one of the ones taking care of your children, so I would consider future care, not the past care... If that makes any sense.

This year, I got my daycare provider and her helper a $50 spa gift card and a Christmas card. I purchased them at Costco, so it cost $80 for both, so that's $20 less than the face value, which is a win.

I also made a craft with my son as a token. We decorated a picture frame with a picture of the daycare provider and my son together. When she saw it she got all teary... so that made me happy to know she really liked it.

Last year, my son had just started 2 months prior, and I gave the main daycare provider a $50 target gift card and a $20 gift card for the helper.

DD & DS each have 2 teachers so I got them a $25 Outback gift card. The Outback is practically in he school parking lot so they can use it for lunch or dinner. DD was in the infant room for 9 months and still spend time in there at the beginning and end of the day .... They have 3 teachers who love sweets. I made them ice cream sundae boxes that had cones and tons of toppings then included $10 gift cards for the local ice cream place .... They LOVED it!

I would love that! I think its a great idea.

We did sort of boring gifts that anyone would probably like or at least appreciate. One time we gave a pretty candle, another time we gave them old fashioned hard candy. A lot of parents gave Starbucks giftcards, or a picture of the teacher and child together.
