What was THE gift? You know, that one you were so excited about that you did this:
Or this:
Or maybe even this...
How old were you? What happened to it? Bonus - post a picture of it for us.
It was when I was about 7 years old. I remember waking up practically in the middle of the night and the living room was full of Santa gifts. A huge new toy box, a scooter (you know the old fashioned kind where you had to use your own leg to power it), some puffy winter boots that changed color when they were cold... The best part was that none of the Santa gifts were wrapped and there was sparkly artificial snow all over everything. It was magical.
I don't know why that year was so different but it was and it was the most memorable. My mom always wrapped our Santa gifts after that, and it was never quite the same...
I don't know what happened to them. But now that I look at Baby Skates she is CREEPY as hell lol. Clearly aging myself with these three gems. Oh and around 9 or 10 I LOVED Jem and the Holograms!!
@FunkyPhoenix Santa gifts are never wrapped here! They are assembled and magically ready to play with once you wake up! It is indeed magic and as I've come to learn a delicious glass of Macallan 25.

Haha. Touché. Get it gurrl.
Back to Santa gifts- Thanks to it being discussed on this board- I've decided that's definitely the way I'm doing it for Ben! Unwrapped all the way! (Starting this year actually- We got him a red combi car... And you can bet I'm going to video us walking out to see what Santa brought! Don't judge me! I've been waiting a long time for this baby! Lol)
The year my sister and I got a jeep! We LOVED that jeep and spent many years having tons of fun riding it around in our backyard. It was a sad day when we reached the 90 pound weight limit and would barely move anymore.
7 years old. Original Nintendo. I. Was. Stoked. We all took turns kicking each others butts playing Dr. Mario. Lots of crap talking and yelling at the tv. That started the tradition of someone buying me a game every year for Christmas. I should note that we do Christmas on Christmas Eve in my family. Don't know why, just always have. So, every Christmas Eve I'd get a game, and we'd all sit around the table after dinner stuffing our face with miscellaneous desserts and get all loud and rowdy playing said game until like 2am. It was always my favorite part of Christmas.
We would always get the newest play station if one came out that year and we would get enough controllers for all 4 of us kids to play together. We do Christmas Eve with my family too so we'd all stay up late and play games and then get up the next morning and go to my grandmas. And that tradition is still alive and strong! Can't wait to start traditions with Grayson
I think I got one each Christmas 8 years in a row and loved each one of them dearly!
It's interesting to hear about Santa not wrapping presents. Santa always wrapped all of our presents but only in plain red wrapping paper. It had your name on it, but the wrapping paper is what told you it was a Santa gift.
A bean bag chair. It was in a wrapped box with my name on it at my grandparents Christmas party and all the other kids were like, "that is the HUGEST box ever!" I loved getting the biggest present, so I am just mega competitive obviously. I'm so glad you mentioned not wrapping santa presents. I am losing my mind arguing with my husband about every aspect of santa and I think the unwrapped option is the best for at least that decision. Any thoughts on gifts from parents vs. gifts from santa? I just want to say everything from Santa but DH wants our kids to think we got them something too. He had both kinds growing up and I had everything from santa. I think DH wants credit and recognition from our kids, which shows how much of an only child he is!
Wow, I feel totally lame because I don't ever remember one like that. I don't know if my memory is just that bad, or if there truly wasn't one. I always liked all my gifts and was excited about all of them, but I can't remember being hyped up about a specific one.
I forget how old I was but I got a huge dollhouse. Seriously it was taller than me! I know I was between 8-10 when I got it.....heck my mum who is 5'4 was barely taller than it.
@calikat80 we do both. Santa's presents are never wrapped. The presents from mommy and daddy are wrapped and under the tree. Santa does leave name tags on the presents (usually in horrible handwriting) because Santa was slaving all night long putting together a 4 ft Barbie house, and just couldn't get the damn sticker on Barbie's hair dryer. 8-}
But like I said earlier Santa leaves no evidence he was there except for a little snow by the fireplace with his boot prints in them. Chloe loves it. I love seeing her face as everything is right there and ready to enjoy!
anyone remember these??? I don't know how old I was but I remember dyyyying when I got a giga pet for Christmas! I swear these are not mine..the pic came from google
When I was in kindergarten I got a huge ass Fievel mouse stuffed animal. I have a pic somewhere of him and I when I first got him, but better yet........
Re: GTKY Christmases past...
Mine was one of these. I was in 5th or 6th grade and they were all the rage then.
