Inclement Weather

Hi BF. It's been a while, so first let me say happy holidays!!

My question: what do you ladies living in the northern half of the country do about inclement weather?

Re: Inclement Weather

  • We have a weather clause stating that we do not travel in bad weather, it's pretty vague, but I've cancelled twice. Essentially if the news is saying to stay off the roads, I stay off the road. I've cancelled because of a blizzard and we rescheduled to the next weekend. And another time because of torrential rain and I brought him the next morning. For what it's worth, we live three hours apart.

  • Our CO doesn't say anything about weather. We usually meet even if the weather isn't great. If it were terrible I'm sure we would postpone meeting by a day or two and make that time up.
  • There isn't anything in our CO about that but I am fortunate that XH would not risk me being on the road with DD so we would cancel. If roads are bad or enough of a concern, then I would either refuse to hand over my child or cancel. I would document in case it ever came up in court.

  • We don't have anything about weather. In the past, my ex will cancel or I'll recommend he cancel if the weather is awful. We'll try to make it up another time or just skip the day. My ex has never had to cancel a weekend; it's only been his weeknight dinners, so it's just a lost hour and a half. He'll call my son and chat if he has cancelled. It's really only happened about 6 times in 5 years. I think we'd both rather not have the kid on the road regardless of who is supposed to have him.

  • There is nothing the the c/o about weather. DH and BM meet halfway and it's around a 90min drive each way on country roads. We usually try to switch weekends with BM if it looks like the weather will be bad and if she isn't willing to switch we just forfeit the weekend. In the six years DH and I have been married the weather has only been an issue maybe four times so we've never felt the need to put something specific in the c/o.
