I'm dealing with the same thing. I have my endo appointment in January. My maternal grandmother and aunt both have had thyroid cancer and have had to go through radiation, so it is very scary. Sending thoughts and prayers your way!
I don't have any first hand experience, but DH has hypothyroidism that went undetected for a long time and ended up causing him all kinds of problems. It's actually pretty easy to manage. He takes a pill every day and sees an endocrinologist & gets his thyroid levels checked twice a year.
I'm hypothyroid and have been on meds for about 4 years. I also am trying to control it with a diet of gluten free and dairy free and it has helped tremendously! I do have cheat days... I love cheese and bread but I do watch what I eat and how much. Bits hard but worth it.
Although after DS and going back to work it's been much harder so I need to do better after the first of the year! I hope it gets all sorted out and you start to feel better!
