So I had an MFM appointment...

And 7 hours later- I'm finally staggering back home utterly exhausted physically and emotionally. It's long, so hang on to your hats ladies.
First- Doc doesn't think last years loss was caused by incompetent cervix. He thinks preterm labour. As such, I get P17 shots weekly from now on.
Second- My cervix which should measure over 2.5 is measuring at 1.1. Which is Not Good. But, what is good is that there was no dilation.
Third- I have "sludge" in my amniotic sac. As I have no other indications, doc says I've got a 30% chance of infection in my amniotic fluid- in which case the pregnancy is essentially already lost. Nothing can save the baby.
When you combine all three together you get a very very grim doctor. My cervix is short enough to easily qualify me for a cerclage. But if there's an infection in the sac and we get a cerclage- we are sealing the infection in and further complicating the inevitable loss. If there's no infection and we don't put in the cerclage, and the cervix continues to funnel- we could be looking at a 50% or higher failure rate on a rescue cerclage in a few weeks.
It felt very damned if you do, and damned if you don't. DH asked if I had to only consider the funneling and PTL, would I want the cerclage. Yes. So we scheduled it for Thursday afternoon.
Not a great day, all in all. Very scary.
But FOURTH: We are having a baby girl. Her name will be Elisabeth. Today I am pregnant with Elisabeth and I love her more than words can say. So I'm taking the dice roll and hoping that we can bring her home in May. I could use all the thoughts and prayers you can spare for us.

BFP from Clomid/IUI ~ Pre-e and IUGR during pregnancy ~ DS born 9/4/12
