I rarely get more than a 2 hour, at best, stretch of sleep at night. And the sleep I do get is very light and of poor quality. Is it still possible to get accurate results from temping?
I also can't temp at the same time every day because I have to do it whenever I'm able to get a longer stretch of sleep in and that depends on when my DD wakes (she is a very poor sleeper).
I have seen posts saying that people have had success temping at various times of the day. So I'm wondering if anyone has had success in my situation.
I'm just getting started temping so I don't have any results of my own yet. Just wondering what others experiences have been.
Re: Temping question
I don't have a kid, but I have severe insomnia and rarely if ever get more than 2-3 hrs of sleep at a time. I still get normal looking charts and visible temp shift each cycle.
So aim for being as consistent as possible when you can and see what happens. Good luck.
I can tell you what I do, but I can't say if it is the best practice.
I set my alarm every single day to go off at 5:00. I know I will still be in bed at 5:00 so that is why I picked that time. My DD wakes up a lot overnight too but I don't get up to get her anymore. Those mornings that I haven't had 3 solid hours since my last wake up I would mark as "sleep deprived" and put in the 5:00 temp. After a few months, I realized the pattern was still there and FF could find my ovulation even with poor sleep so I have since stopped doing it (marking sleep deprived, I'm still temping).
You won't know until you have some data under your belt if it is accurate or not, but if you don't try you will never know!
All you can do is try it and see.
@LindsRockies thanks for the links! Also you were/are on the January 2013 board right? I used to be but joined the FB group and don't visit much anymore.
