We had our gender ultrasound about 2 weeks ago and for whatever reason, I question if it's really a girl. I can see that there isn't a little nob for a boy, but I don't see the 3 lines for the girl. Also, I don't know what the big black blob is behind her lady parts. Do my pics look like anyone elses? I just don't want any surprises on delivery day. Thank you!!!
Re: Is it really a girl??
ETA: do you mean this was your anatomy scan or one of those random places that do ultrasounds for entertainment purposes?
Uh, yeah. It's an anatomy scan to make sure there are no abnormalities with your baby. They don't do it just so you know if you're having a boy or girl.

aaaand, I am going to my friends office today to get a gender US!!! she's an OB. I used to work in radiology & people would US themselves or friend coworkers quite often for fun or for students. I always thought unnecessary US were a bad idea but I'm dying to find out so I'm going today.
What's with the dictating how another woman should feel about and prioritize aspects of their pregnancy?
Um what exactly is wrong with my priorities? I missed the part where there's something wrong with wanting to know my baby's gender....
Get a grip. Just because I forgot the official name of my 20 week u/s means that I don't care about the health of my baby?? Who gives a crap what I called it. My question wasn't about the name of the ultrasound so I'm sorry that you misunderstood the original post and that's what you decided to comment on. Quit being so nitpicky.
And just so you know, my baby and I are perfectly healthy. Finding out what we are having is just icing on the cake.

OP ( @spartybride3 ) : you have to understand that what title you give the ultrasound (in the written form of this forum) conveys what aspect of the scan you place priority on.
Thus, when you call it a "gender scan" vs. "anatomy scan" you are communicating that your sole focus is on the baby's genitalia. Not the rest of the anatomy.
You may not mean that that is all you care about, but that is how it comes across to some posters (myself included).
No one said it was a crime to want to find out the sex (gender is a whole separate issue). Many posters do & have found out the sex of their baby at the anatomy scan. That's no big deal. It's the tone of your post that that is all that interests you about the 20 week ultrasound.
It's exciting & great icing on the cake. No doubt. However, it does matter what you call the scan. It's purpose is to verify proper development of the baby's anatomy in full.
In fact, it can be confusing if you have a question. Many posters have elective Gender Scans independent of their anatomy scan. So, if you confuse the two then it can be hard to help you and future posters who might refer to their elective vs. anatomy scans. They are two separate things.
Normally I would jump on the "priorities yo-- get some." Train. However, I think it's more helpful in this instance to illustrate to you how you are choosing to communicant here & why it is not getting you the answers you desire.
FWIW, to me your scan looks like a girl scan. Twig & berries are very noticeable & I don't see them here. I certainly wish you the best on your labor & delivery. Topics like this can be hot button because many of us (including myself) have a history of receiving devastating news at our anatomy scans. We have a desire to disabuse ignorant posters of the notion that the anatomy scan's highlight is to find out what junk the baby has.
Too many posters get stuck on finding out the sex in my opinion. It's wonderful to find out, but really the focus should be on health first.

And yes, to satisfy your ridiculous accusations, I spent the entire u/s asking the tech what she was looking at and what everything meant. Would you like to call the tech yourself? Oh and after my u/s I had a dr appt where I asked her a million questions too.
You have a lot of nerve questioning someone's priorities, especially when you base it off of one word. And for your information, I am a psychologist that works in special education so I have an abnormal interest in the growth and development of my baby and any child that I will ever work with.
"What I refer to an u/s as says NOTHING about my priorities. I'm sorry that you have nothing better to do than scrutinize one word in a post."
Actually, it does say everything about your priorities. More than one person has collectively told you that this matters. You are choosing to believe otherwise. What you want to communicate is not being communicated. Own it. Understand it & fix it. Arguing is fruitless & could be perceived as petulance. Titles & name assignments for things matter.
"You have a lot of nerve questioning someone's priorities, especially when you base it off of one word."
we only go off the information that you provide. Don't be angry with us because of how your post is being received. If more than one person comes to this conclusion, what does that tell you? We can't all be wrong, dear.
"And for your information, I am a psychologist that works in special education so I have an abnormal interest in the growth and development of my baby and any child that I will ever work with."
Honestly, from your OP I would have never guessed this. It seems like all you cared about was if this kid has a vagina or not.

I promise I'm not delusional, honey. It was not just me that had the same conclusions about your posts.
I have a marvelous, loving & fulfilled life. Thank you for noting that!

I'm sure everyone will join me in thanking you for policing our actions and telling us how we should be responding. :-bd
I refuse to support ignorant people who have their heads wedged so far up their own asses they can't think.
Plenty of people, including myself, were nice and informative. None of this qualifies as bullying. It's called adamant disagreement. You don't know what you are talking about.
