TTC After a Loss

~**~ Healthy Living Check In ~**~

We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise, or anything in between.

If you are new, feel free to jump in and join us! We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!

Re: ~**~ Healthy Living Check In ~**~

  • Thanks for the check in @carlsonbaby2014! How was your trip to the gym this weekend?

THE GOOD: Ate pretty good this weekend.
THE BAD: It's official, I am sick. Ugh! At least it hit after I sang on Sunday (small victories). Guess I will be making the treck to the doc for some shots in the booty.
    THE PROUD:
THE PLAN: Rest this week and get over whatever this cold/crap is. Gird my loins for upcoming Christmas and all the temptation that arises.

Hope y'all are having a better Monday than me. ((Hugs)) to everyone that needs them!

  • Hi cb, thank you for the check in. How are you doing, love?

THE GOOD: I ate really well Sat and Sun.
THE BAD: I binged on caffeine Friday night and undid all that good food from the weekend already with a super large iced not decaf coffee and a stomachache's worth of cookies. Also, I keep falling off with tracking on MFP.
THE PROUD: I bought myself ten yoga classes
THE PLAN: Make and stick to a meal plan for the week. Track with MFP. Be mindful of what I put in my mouth with all the parties at work this week. Get registered for (and hopefully start) the yoga classes I paid for.

  • @AnyMax, I feel you on MFP. I dont think I have looked at it in forever. It's sad really. Hope your yoga classes are amazing. Maybe one day I will get brave and take them. Maybe.

  • @megrae12 I'm sorry you aren't feeling well :( Let's commit to MFP this week together? I will log the junk I just shoved in my mouth.
My RE has insisted I find something to destress and thanks to snegde and mlal, I committed to it. Check out groupon or one of those sites. I got a really good deal.

@Katieisoptimistic Hopefully the hangover has passed!

  • Into *son mentioned*

Hi, I want to join! Hopefully I can be faithful to at least this one thing related to "healthy living". I am horrible. I want to get fit but I usually just give up shortly, shrug my shoulders and reach for a cookie. I am 29, I am 5'6" and weight 132. My BMI is where it should be, but I am soooo flabby. I have no muscle at all. Summer before last, my friends and I ran (I jogged with my son in the stroller) at least 3 miles EVERYDAY. It may not be much for some, but it was a great workout and I LOVED the way I looked and my legs looked amazing. We were also swimming and were pretty active. This past summer, we didnt do as much and I noticed my flab came back :( I joined a gym with one of my friends, and had 2 BFP and 2 losses during that time. The gym was a 3 month membership and I went like 5 times in 3 months due to the losses and a D&C. Well I am 5 1/2 weeks post op and I'm ready to get back to the swing of things. (After I have my coffee and biscochitos). We are planning on joining the gym again in January cause I'm not gonna lie, I have no intentions of "living healthy" until January. Until then, instead of eating 5 biscochitos, I only had 3. I want to be healthy not so much for looks, because I am pretty thin, but I want to be healthy. I want to be an example to my son.

THE GOOD: I had 2 salads yesterday!
THE BAD: I had 2 servings of natillas yesterday too
    THE PROUD: Nothing yet...
THE PLAN: To gain will power. Once I start working out and eating better, it's a lot easier for me to continue, but it is sooo hard to start. I have been on MFP since last summer, but haven't logged on in a while. Eat smaller portions of the food I love. My motto is "Eat all things in moderation"

  • @srcr2011 Welcome. It sounds like we're in similar situations - not necessarily looking to lose weight but just to get more fit. Everyone gives me crap about trying to eat well and exercise because I look fairly thin - but it's all flab and no muscle at all. I also joined a gym in August - haven't been back since September! Oops. I guess we can get back into things together :)

Oh me too!!! My mom used to get upset when I would run and thought I was going to become anorexic. Let's do this!!!!

  • Well... I did not post an update on how I did last Friday because the week started off strong, but I fell off. I did a lot of my walking but I completely blew the diet part. But I did manage to drink my water daily.
The Good: That I did drink my water and I will continue that (water has never been an issue for me, so not sure it is a success story)
The bad: Everything I did last week was bad!
    The proud: ***Cricket chirping***
The plan: Track everything I eat, bad good or indifferent. I calculated the correct calories based on how much I have gained and I think I can stay with this budget.

  • @anymax Enjoy the yoga! I love yoga. It is very relaxing but, it kicks my you-know-what ;) I've found with yoga that unlike other forms of exercise - pain is bad. The instructors in my experience have always encouraged that one should feel a "gentle stretch" but not pain.

@megrae12 thanks for the MFP add!

  • The good: I just began my Week 6 of Couch to 5K.

The bad: I made sugar cookies on Saturday and have eaten way too many...raw and baked!

The proud: Last Friday was my first run without any walking intervals.  I ran 20 STRAIGHT minutes! I don't think I've ever done that in my life.

The plan:  I have lost about 14 lbs so far and would like to lose about 16 more.  My starting weight was 187 and I'm currently at about 173.

  • lol You're funny! It's not too bad actually.  It's a 9 week program that slowly introduces you to running.  An example would be: 5 min walking warm up, 3 min run, 1.5 min walk, 5 min run, 2.5 min walk, 3 min run, 1.5 min walk then 5 min walking cool down.  It slowly brings you to full time running.  I HATED running in high school during volleyball conditioning and so forth but the program has really been great for me.  I don't claim to be a runner at all, but I don't "hate" it anymore and I feel great!!!

  • THE GOOD: I'm 1.5 lbs away fom my 40 lb goal. I just want to get there!

THE BAD: I had events every night for the last 4 nights. I over ate and drank too much. Sigh

THE PROUD: I weigh less right now then I have in about 8 years.

THE PLAN: don't over eat this week. Stick to low carb. Get healthy! Since I miscarried 1 1/2 weeks ago, I have had the stomach flu and now I have the regular flu. I have never been so miserable. I also fell and banged up my whole right side and my left ankle. Which is heck on my being able to work out. I could scream. I'm sorry to be a downer but I just feel so beaten when I'm already down.

    Have a great anniversary @MrsG80inTN

So, when you send a friend request in MFP, you have the option of either putting in an email address or simply a screen name.  Either one is ok.

  • Well, I learned a lesson today... DO NOT skip gym days when you're doing 12 days of fitness contest or you'll have to make up a bunch of days... I had to make up three days of workouts so I had to do the following three times :-(  Mark my words, I'll be sore tomorrow.

Day one = .25 miles on your choice of cardio equipment

Day two = 2 sets of walking lunges (10 each leg)

Day three = 3 sets of battle rope (10 seconds each)

Day four = 4 sets of five rows

Day five = 5 rounds through the ladder

Day six = 6 ball rolls outs

Day seven = 7 wall balls

Day eight = 8 overhead press, 8 front raises and 8 lateral raises

Day nine = 9 sandbell slams
