Scars

Does anyone have a scar on their belly? Not from a caection but some other surgery?
I have one about 2-3 inch above my belly button, it's horizontal and maybe 8ish inches long, starts above my belly button and goes right. And I don't seem to carry my babies above it. So I carry super low.
I was just wondering if a scar affects anyone else durring pregnacy?

Re: Scars

  • I have one under my ribs, still above my belly for now. It was a mole removal that left a really nasty, gnarly raised scar (thanks, doc!) and it is terribly itchy on a good day. I can't even imagine how bad it's going to be when it'll be stretched late in the third trimester, ugh.

I have a keloid scar on my arm from a mole removal! Its all raised and looks like a spider!! Obviously, it won't change during pregnancy...but damnit, I will think twice before I let them remove a mole next time! My mole was much prettier than my spider scar!

  • I have a scar that runs vertically down my midsection from a major abdominal surgery in 2008. It's starts at where my front bra band would be and goes down about 4 inches past my belly button.

I'm carrying low. I also feel like all the scar tissue is holding me in, and as a result, making me "pop" less at this stage.

I was really worried about the expansion/scar tissue when we decided to start trying for a baby. So far it hasn't really been an issue. No pain or discomfort!
  • My laparoscopy scars itch sometimes, but they do that when I'm not pregnant. It'll be interesting to see what happens with all my belly button scars from those surgeries. I'm not too worried though because they are so tiny.

  • I have 2 on my lower belly. One from my appendix and one from a mole removed when I was born. They both have a lot more stretch marks surrounding them that have stayed from my first pregnancy but other than that nothing else.

Don't shoot the messanger but your keloid might get bigger during pregnancy. My keloids almost doubled in size last pregnancy and appear to be growing again this time :(

  • I have a scar to the right of my belly button. It's horizontal and about 3 inches long. It got itchy like PP said as my belly was stretching, but otherwise didn't bother me at all.
  • I have a bunch of little ones all over from gallbladder and appendix being taken out. So far, I've had no probs with them.
  • I have a few scars around my belly button from piercings gone bad.  The scar tissue is all dark and angry looking now.  Aside from the skin being tight, itchy, and ugly, it has not really given me any grief.

Our baby boy,Logan, was born still at 19w3d on 7/1/2011
Our 2nd baby boy, Mason, was born still at 20w3d on 1/31/2012

After a much needed sanity break... we are praying for our rainbows

    ((BFP 7/29/13))  ((EDD 4/12/14))  It's BOY/GIRL twins!!!

  • 4 from gallbladder and 1 from previous tubal (we did IVF and now pg w twins). No issues so far.
  • Oh, and 2 c section scars.
  • I have a 13" scar vertically down my abdomen that's about 20y/o that just recently started to itch. I'm using BioOil. Seems to be working. I'm scared as hell what'll happen to it as I get bigger!
