Rethinking Eloise?

We just found out that we're having a girl! Girl names are easier for me so until now I had been super focused on finding a boy name we liked. We both have liked Eloise Hope for a while, but I think now that its real, I'm not sure. What do you think?

Just some background... Hope is my mom's middle name. Louise is H's mom's first name (this was more of a coincidence than on purpose since it sounds similar to Eloise). Last name is 2 syllables, starts with K. We are thinking of calling her Ellie for a nn.

I like Eloise. If you don't think it's "the" name you still have plenty of time to think about it!

IMO, I think the first name sounds very dated and old, but I like the nn. I wouldn't side eye eloise hope. I'd rather see that then a trendy or popular name.

I really dislike Eloise...I don't like the sound. I know three baby Eloise's. All are adorable, great babies...there was one at a daycare I used to work at, she was one but the older ones called her Wheeze. Maybe that's why I don't think it has a pretty sound to it.

DD is Eloise and I love it, I disagree with most people on "keep looking." Don't put too much pressure on it or you'll get too caught up on picking the "perfect" name

This is great advice. I think Eloise is a great name. But I am so stinking tired of the NN Ellie

I adore Eloise and Hope is my DD's mn so obviously I love it a well. If you're not sure, try it out and think about it. Say it out loud and that kind of thing to get more of a feel for it.

Thanks everyone. I do agree that Ellie is a little overdone. Typically I try to stay away from really common names but I've always liked it. I think I'll try out Eloise for a bit and see if it feels right. Maybe I'll decide I don't need a nn. (Though I do like some of those other nn suggestions.). Maybe I'll let her decide.

DD goes by Eloise 99% of the time. It just fits her. The remaining 1% we call her Elle. I'm not a fan of Ellie.

I don't like Eloise- it's the wheeze sound I dislike as mentioned above. Hope is lovely. i'd keep looking.
