    1) I already have a swing.
    2) thanks for the opinions, but I'm happy with my choice to have both the bumbo and the bouncer so the comments on that are getting a little redundant.
    3) return the crib set? Are you kidding me? It's called decorating and giving theme to the nursery. Furthermore the set is phasing out of BRU and was on clearance.
    4) I understand every baby is different, but any baby I have myself or have dealt with has taken any bottle I've given them/their parents have given them. So again, not to concerned about that.
    5) Yes, I did buy all this. I'm not a first time mother, I've played this game before. Not trying whatsoever to sound condescending, as yes I asked for opinions but I don't need to be told to "take it back". Each item I've found reviews online myself for, I just wanted the connect of speaking to you ladies in my community about first hand experiences (negative or positive) with these or similar products. Everything I purchased I found "necessary" and have the space for. I just wanted to hear whether your experiences with the products were a negative or positive one.

    Thanks for the feedback though!

Necessary is a relative term.  It also seems you were only looking for positive feedback.

I would say that DD did without a good 6-7 of these items and survived just fine.  There are actually questions of some of them in terms of development (exersaucer/bumbo etc) where they are getting kids to do things before they are developmentally ready and the babies end up with muscle strain because of it.  Two separate drs told a friend and my brother not to use them.  We didn't use a bumbo and barely used a exersaucer (we had a hand me down used probably a GRAND TOTAL of 2 hours while MIL was here) and DD exceeded all of her milestones.

Okay, but again this is a bit silly. Why would I use, for instance, an exersaucer before little one is ready to put a little weight on his legs and can hold his head up? Again I appreciate the feedback and understand what you're saying, but if i got these items on sale, have the space, and am using them correctly, what's the issue? I do not doubt for a second your child is thriving, but that doesn't mean my son didn't or my new son won't because I have them.

Not sure why you're sending me this. (If it's meant to throw SIDS in my face again) Never said I was using a quilt with my newborn. He's going to sleep in a bassinet with a swaddle until he's able to sleep in his own bed and able to turn his head.
  • Bumbo, unneeded. Baby Bullet, unneeded. Just use a food processor. Giant high chair, unneeded, get a space saver one. That luxury baby bath is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. You don't need a mover AND a bouncer. Hopefully your baby loves Avent bottles, otherwise you're screwed with so many of them.

No opinion on the travel system, nursery set or play pen. That is our exersaucer though, so good call on that one.

    Just go about your day.

BTW.  Exersaucers are inappropriate developmentally until they are able to walk.  By that point they are uselesss anyway.

  • That's not all I was looking for, no. This is getting out of hand, lol. Again ladies, thanks for your opinions!
  • FWIW I used soft blankets with DD for snuggling on the couch and quilts for supervised tummy time.  Just not in the crib until she was a year old.

  • I also used the quilt for tummy time.  And if you're hell bent on a bedding set for a theme...which I am totally guilty of for my son....then you can get the bumpers converted into a rail bite guard.

My sister sews, so she does it for me.  But you can find someone that sews, take them to a seamtress.  I might attempt it myself this time.  I got the idea from Etsy originally.

Okay. All I'm saying about the blanket thing is not to use them for nighttime sleep. Obviously there are other uses for them. The blanket in question was a big quilt, so clearly not recommended for putting in a crib with baby.

Well, just for the record (not arguing) as I said I would be using swaddles until baby could move their head. After that, the comforter wouldn't be necessary (not due to suffocation) but it would be summer. So things your suggesting like tummy time would make good use of it at that time. So by the time I used the quilt it would be about December so baby would be 7 months old. I know someone suggested a year before use though. (Yes I do actually care and pay attention :P) I'm just not going to pass up a super cute set for 50% off because I can't use one piece of 10 until way later, right?
  • I'm pretty sure this portion of the thread is over. All I did was elaborate on my rationale for choosing the items for those that said it was unnecessary or a waste. I appreciated comments from people who used the items and had a negative experience.
  • Not wasting my time bc obvious you already know everything. (Also only read first page).

  • You could have just said, "Look at all this baby stuff I bought!" instead of asking for opinions since, like pp said, you apparently already know everything. Except that babies shouldn't sleep with a quilt, even if it's cold, before they're a year old.

You'll also notice that I did not shout the title. No need to yell.

  • Again. Beating a dead horse. This is just getting childish now. The thread was over. I was talking to ladies about ideas. I wasn't looking for people to awe over anything, it wasn't meant to come off as braggy. Nor did I mean to sound condescending or unappreciative in my replies. I don't understand how when I ask for opinions, people are entitled to say what they wish, but if I explain my rationale for why.. I'm suddenly an asshole? Either way the thread is long over. Looooooong over. If you're going to continue repeating the same thing, thus causing me to do so, please refrain. These notifications are blowing up my phone.
  • mods: I've checked online and through my application. Is there anyway to delete this thread or mark it as answered? The thread was covered, I apologized for miscommunication and the continuing of nonsense is just unnecessary.
  • Not to be rude, but OP, if you're *over it* and are done talking about it then stop responding to every comment. It seems like you're the one who keeps dragging it on. I read through the entire thread and in your original post it did come across as if you Wanted to know what everyone thought about each item.
  • I did, absolutely! But it was more based on the people who had already used the items or somethig similar. I woke up to so many notifications! Some very very helpful, ladies were giving me great ideas for bumpers etc! People were giving opinions for instance on how useless the bumbo was or how their child didn't like the swing or bottles. All of it was fantastic! But then people started saying things like it was stupid and a waste of money/space/time without even having tried and the likes. They're still more then entitled but it got a little overwhelming so I just tried to explain (perhaps not in the correct tone) why I chose the different things. But since I apologized, was talking perfectly civilly about different things and people keep going. I tried to ignore but they keep coming. Tried to delete the thread myself long ago.
  • @Sammarah, we don't delete threads unless there is a TOU violation. I'm pretty sure you can change your notification preferences, though.

    Thank you, mod!
  • Not wasting my time bc obvious you already know everything. (Also only read first page).
You didn't miss much. She got pissy because people told her she didn't need half the crap she has, then proceeded to argue with everyone about why she has what she has, and showed off her know-it-all attitude for all to see. Oh, and something about using blankets in the crib but only AFTER the baby can move his/her head, and she has has HAS TO because she's in Canada. The end.

  • You already bought all of these things? Why? I would have waited until after you had a shower if someone is throwing one for you. Seems like a waste of $$ to me.
  • And it continues! Yes, I did say that the quilt will be necessary here in canada. I will be using the quilt in the winter, baby will be 7-8 months old. Some people believe 1 year is when a quilt is a good age, and that's great! I'm going to use mine next winter. :)
@sammy.k, this is my second I won't be having a shower. I didn't get one with my first either which sucks but it is what it is! :) my family will probably buy outfits an little things too which is nice but the more exspensive things are on me and DF to buy. :)

Are you kidding me!? Why are you fvcking asking for reviews then. Did you just want to AW all the shit you bought? I'm legitimately confused as to why you even asked?

Edited: Didn't read, posted hastily w/o reading comments.

    Still thinks OP is ridiculous.

Why shouldn't it end? I apologized a page and a half ago for miscommunication. I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as you're entitled to yours, which I never failed to acknowledge. A few of the ladies and I continued on with a perfectly civil conversation, so the greater question I believe is why you feel the need to continue it to no avail or point, especially considering most of you didn't even post on the first page in order to be offended by how "dismissive" I was.

Some of the ladies are even posting, admitting they didn't even read the thread before jumping in. If I was "ridiculous" the responses to such a ridiculous thread have been so much worse.

We've bought a baby name book.

And now that I've actually read the entire thread... all I can say to OP is FFS, SMH, and Bless Your Heart.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • Like I said in my first post, 'waste of breath.' Figured it would be since you already bought the stuff so our reviews were pretty much pointless. I didn't expect you to return everything you purchased if we had something bad to say about them, but to argue why you bought them and that it was all 'thought out' makes it very clear that this whole thread was just pointless and a reason for you to show off what you bought for your baby.

    Oops, sorry for talking.

  • This thread is interesting!!
OP you must be excited to have so much stuff ready for baby already. I don't have any original opinions to offer on those products though.

On the topic of using the quilt as a blanket when baby can turn its head. Have you done alot of research on that? I agree with the poster who suggested a sleep sack. It might be good to look into. I would never take a chance with a blanket myself (Ill do it long into toddler years as long as they fit!) And the plus to them is that its a great security for them. Anyway, I know you didn't want opinions so feel free to ignore me as well!
  • Well...I'm glad I took the time to think through your list and give advice/opinion as asked.  If you don't want it don't ask for it- and since you're not a first time mom how did you survive without the items the first time...see proves they are unnecessary.  Now I don't usually respond back, but duh.

Then perhaps moderators should step in, especially when it comes to a member being personally insulted and allowing posts like the one flagged to go without mention, allowing the thread to come to what it has. Especially considering any "crime" I've commited is non existent or minimal. I've apologized to anyone I may have offended by being dismissive. I was then told it wasn't necessary to post my opinion in response to others opinions. I was then told not to post on my own thread (which I haven't for 6 hours +) and it continues. When it comes to the point I'm getting personally insulted, that's a different situation altogether.
  • sammmxosammmxo member

I wasn't insulted or offended by any of this. Annoyed sure, but that's everyone's intent. That doesn't make the comment deleted any less of a personal attack. But with that being said, what is a flaggable offence as you say? Because I'm seeing a pretty clear bias form here. According to the other moderator, it must violate bump terms of use. According to section 5 of terms of use, there are many violations examples in this thread.
Because the extent it has been allowed to go on, because I have done everything to "step out" of the situation to no avail, this thread contains/(ed) some borderline harassing comments. It also contains "harmful, vulgar and obscene" language. As well, there's the subsection that refers to "internet vandalism" which includes the prohibited use of "abusive language" which I'm sure must include personal attacks, cursing, allowing situations such as this (where a formal apology had been made and the conversation had already moved on) to occur.
So I'm unclear what is a flaggable offence then or what violates terms of use according to the moderators, if these are outlined by the bump itself- regardless of what you believe should or shouldn't offend me.
