BIG PURCHASE OPINIONS AND REVIEWS?

Here are the bigger purchases made for baby Oliver thus far. Not quite done yet and this doesn't include little things like clothing and receiving blankets etc.
Just looking for opinions or reviews from moms who have the same or similar products!

Thanks in advance!

Re: BIG PURCHASE OPINIONS AND REVIEWS?

  • It would probably be easier if you gave links/product names. Some of these I'm not sure exactly which brand/etc they are.

  • So this is just me going by the pictures if you have a bouncer and a seat that moves around keep the mover and take the bouncer back as they're really similar. I had the advent set for you to clean and sanitize and honestly I used it maybe twice, and decided the bottles didn't seem a whole lot cleaner than when I scrubbed them by hand so that's your call just wasn't worth the time to me. I also have a bath tub and used it maybe once. I put DS in the sink as most of the time I no more than got him in the sink and he'd pee and it's easier changing that water than getting a cold baby out of the tub and refilling etc. and then when DS was older we used the bumbo for everything bath time, feeding until he was ready for the high chair etc. otherwise looks good!
  • I got the Avent bottle set with the warmer (in pink, though) and I think it's great. My aunt (she has 5 boys) swears by them.
  • You already bought all this though, right? We definitely didn't find much use for our bumbo seat.

  • I wouldnt go ahead and buy a bunch of bottles right away. Different babies like different bottles. I bought a ton of tommee tippee with my son and he hated them. I did prefer that baby food maker to the other one that I had. I wouldnt suggest a bouncer my son hated it and we used it like twice maybe. Your travel system looks like mine what brand is it

  • Do you have a lot of room? I had the same highchair and wished I had gotten on that could detach and become a booster on a chair because it was so big and not easy to store.

  • The travel system is Graco fast action fold and yes this is all purchased already. Also yes, the bath does bubbles and has a shower head but you don't have to use either. I got it cheap and don't have a sink I'd like to put the baby in , so infant bath it is.
  • The bouncer and bumbo were also both on sale, that's why I opted for both so I could keep one upstairs and the other downstairs. As well the bumbo has no neck and head support so the bouncer trumps at first. Either would also be small enough to shove in the backseat/ trunk to travel and visit others.
  • You already bought all this though, right? We definitely didn't find much use for our bumbo seat.

. This. The Bumbo is only useful for a very short time...from when they can hold their heads up until they can sit solo.

  • The poop-o-matic...I mean Exersaucer ;) got good use with DS. He loved that thing from about 4 or 5 months until he was walking. (We never did the last option with it, no space).

  • I only used the bumbo a couple of times. As mentioned above, it has a very short time frame that they can fit and are interested in being in it.
  • Okay I'd take back the crib set- you can really only use the sheets, unless you really wanted the quilt etc.
And the baby bullet- if you want to make your own baby food you might as well get the regular bullet or ninja.  The baby bullet is more of a marketing gimmick.
I'd rather have a swing or vibrating chair- they will take up some room, maybe you can find one with both options.
Im not sure what that bottle thing is, but it looks big and unnecessary.
You could pry return these items and put your money towards items you will use frequently.
  • My daughter hated that swing. We are gonna try it again w #2. I recommend the bath pod more than the one u got. Reviews always said That the batteries drain like crazy and u don't use that feature often. I liked dr browns bottles too.
  • I'm confused, you bought these things already and are asking for reviews? So if we all give bad reviews are you actually going to return some of the items? Or are we just 'wasting our breathe' so to speak, haha. Just curious...

So I agree with the rest in that the bumbo chair was a waste of money. Barely ever used it.

The baby bullet also pointless. Better off buying a full size food processor. When I made baby food I did it in big batches so I was having to split up my food because the bullet was too small to fit all my food to purée all at once. And the plastic o-ring things (cant think of the name right now) keep on braking, and I have to order the replacements, so now it leaks if I use it. And I freeze the food in ice cube trays, because the storage containers that this comes with is not enough for the amounts that I make.

I found the high chair that straps onto your own chairs are very useful. It turns into a booster when they are older, and you can take it with you when you go to someone's house for dinner. Which you can't do with the stand alone high chairs.

I wouldn't have found that bath set very useful. It was such I short time that they really use a baby bath, or maybe that's just me with my monster size babies. Plus with my son he had bad skin so I couldn't wash him super frequently.

Bottles you don't want too many of. Like what has been mentioned baby might not take to those particular kind, so you might have to buy different brands to figure that out when baby is here.

Man, I think I'm just more jealous that you have enough space for all these things. I really need to get out of a townhouse!!! ;)

  • I have that swing and my son really loved it for a couple months, then he wanted a back and forth swing.  We're trying it again for this baby, but we might end up getting a used back and forth if she only takes to it for 8 weeks.

  • I'm a FTM but I just wanted to chime in and say my SIL used the hell out of that bumbo when my nephew was little. He loved sitting in it, and it was where he ended up eating 90% of the time for quite a few months. If you don't feel like paying for it I would definitely register for it. It's at a good price point for a baby shower gift.

  • 1) I already have a swing.
    2) thanks for the opinions, but I'm happy with my choice to have both the bumbo and the bouncer so the comments on that are getting a little redundant.
    3) return the crib set? Are you kidding me? It's called decorating and giving theme to the nursery. Furthermore the set is phasing out of BRU and was on clearance.
    4) I understand every baby is different, but any baby I have myself or have dealt with has taken any bottle I've given them/their parents have given them. So again, not to concerned about that.
    5) Yes, I did buy all this. I'm not a first time mother, I've played this game before. Not trying whatsoever to sound condescending, as yes I asked for opinions but I don't need to be told to "take it back". Each item I've found reviews online myself for, I just wanted the connect of speaking to you ladies in my community about first hand experiences (negative or positive) with these or similar products. Everything I purchased I found "necessary" and have the space for. I just wanted to hear whether your experiences with the products were a negative or positive one.

    Thanks for the feedback though!
  • Furthermore I live in canada, so once baby is sleeping in his own crib rather then bassinet, here in canada the quilt is necessary.
  • Also (haha) in note of the baby bullet, I can't make "huge batches". Where my home is large, my freezer is not.
  • I already answered that question.
  • Lastly in regards to the highchair, I've personally had bad experiences with the one that clips onto a regular chair. My DS had one and I wasn't so fond. I understand the ease of taking it to other peoples houses though and that's a good point!

  • I have no problem with negative feedback, especially if someone had the same product and it didn't work out (for instance the lady who said her child didn't like the swing I have, or the comment about the bath tub and batteries or the comments about how long their bumbo was used) but when comments are being repeated or it's something I've already thought through (for instance the bumbo and the bouncer), it starts to get redundant when it gets repeated over and over. I wasn't being rude in my responses, I was elaborating on my choices etc. Not to sure why anyone would be upset about that.
  • when did I argue wanting opinions?
  • Dude.  You have no idea how your response came off?  Very defensive and dismissive.

  • And no, I'm not about to return items I wanted/found sales for etc because of a person's say so. I was interested however in personal experiences and opinions WITH THESE OR SIMILAR PRODUCTS to keep in mind. And those comments I very much appreciated :) I appreciated all the feedback, and all I did was respond with my rationale. There's no reason to be getting upset whatsoever.

You gotta know that no one is upset.  Aside from you.  Your rationale was defensive and dismissive.

Well I'm sorry, but don't ask for opinions if you're gong to be dismissive, in the future if you want advice people won't be bothered to give them.  You don't need to explain yourself.  A simple "Thank you for the advice" would have worked.

Interesting! I used swaddles until baby slept on his own, could turn his etc. not sure if that's what you mean by sleep sacks?
  • Okay. Sorry for the miscommunication. Understood and noted. :) (not sarcasm for the record.. Haha)

Necessary is a relative term.  It also seems you were only looking for positive feedback.

I would say that DD did without a good 6-7 of these items and survived just fine.  There are actually questions of some of them in terms of development (exersaucer/bumbo etc) where they are getting kids to do things before they are developmentally ready and the babies end up with muscle strain because of it.  Two separate drs told a friend and my brother not to use them.  We didn't use a bumbo and barely used a exersaucer (we had a hand me down used probably a GRAND TOTAL of 2 hours while MIL was here) and DD exceeded all of her milestones.

Baby should not use a blanket until they are a year old.

I tried a few sleep sacks.  These were my favorite (and actually the cheapest)!

  • Never suggested for a second I was going to. Nobody asked. Infact I clearly said that I would be using swaddles until baby could move his head. That doesn't mean it's stupid or a bad idea to buy a bedding set and bedroom decor for once baby was ready. So on that note, I will return your assertion by saying it's sort of silly to "tell someone off" when what you're saying is just incorrect.
