Not long ago, skit from a comedian was going around about people without kids. It got me thinking about how some of my childless friends really don't get it.
Now, I'm sure that I made PLENTY of ignorant comments before I had Em, so this is not a bashing thread. However, have any of you had childless friends make comments that just made you shake your head or laugh?
For example, Emmett got super sick yesterday so I decided to take today off. Being a teacher, I had to go into school late last night to get my sub plans ready. Surprisingly, one of my friends was still there getting work done. On my way out of school she said to me, "Enjoy your day off!" It kind of bugged me so I replied, "Well, my baby has a very high fever and won't stop screaming, so I don't consider that a day off. " To that she replied, "Well, sleep in a little bit at least!"
Now, I get that she was just trying to be friendly and cheerful, but it rubbed me the wrong way. It made me feel like she thinks I'm just taking a day off to be lazy. Humph!
You ladies got any good ones?!?
Re: Comments from people without kids!
But then she'll say, "well it's better than being stuck home with a kid". It's like no, I have a fantastic husband right next to me and I'd gladly be home with my baby drinking a glass of wine on a Friday night than at a loud club, in shoes that hurt my feet, trying to fight for $20 drinks. Needless to say our friendship is non existent.
Eta.... Bump said I was done when I wasn't.
There are so many things but nothing I can think of right now.
"You can't just feed him anytime he wants." Actually, yes I can. That's exactly what I'm going to do.
