Seriously. Explore the boards a little bit, read a few more threads. There have been tons of them lately on whether x, y, z foods are safe or not. People are just poking a little bit of fun at how ridiculous it gets sometimes.
Just eat your bacon and drink your tap water. You'll be fine.
My RE said no to bacon because of the nitrates. Although I think a small amount wouldn't hurt. Just don't eat it every day.
As long as you're not shoving a pack of nitrite filled bacon and washing it down with another pack of nitrite filled hot dogs everyday, you'll be fine eating the normal nitrite laden bacon.
Although the nitrite free stuff does taste a lot better, but our grocery stopped carrying the Oscar Meyer selects bacon, which was one of the best, IMHO.
