What is your plan for work maternity wardrobe?

I'm trying to get my plan figured out and without getting sticker shock on how much it's going to be to cover normal everyday maternity clothes and my office clothes. My everyday clothes I can get away with wearing the same outfit often, but work clothes I'm going to need to have more options for. My office dresses in between business casual and business attire (I could never wear a polo or khakis, but women don't wear full suits, either). How many slacks/skirts/dresses/ tops do you all plan on getting by with? I'm making the belly band work with my slacks for now, but my shirts seem to have less room each week and it's only a matter of time before I'm going to have to break down and buy everything to fit the belly.

Thankfully my work dress code is dark jeans or black pants and white or black shirts. I have 2 pairs of maternity jeans and a pair of black maternity pants that I can alternate. I'll probably end up with 5 shirts, but just simple old navy/gap long sleeve maternity tees that I can wear everday as well. I really don't want to buy a bunch of clothes this time around so I'm just going to do my best to mix things up with what I have.

W DS I bought two pairs of black pants and a handful of tops and tanks and I wore my regular sweaters to switch it up a bit added a scarf. And I also wore leggings w some dresses I had that I could still fit in.

@honeybee434 I'm having the same dilemma! I work in an office setting where I need to dress up daily. I will probably try to get 4-5 pair of dress pants (i have several skirts that i will be able to wear for a while) and several tank tops. I have a lot of cardigans and sweater wraps/shrugs that will last the whole pregnancy so I will just need shirts for under them. Im hoping to get things off craigslist and/or resale shops!

I have simple work attire... Just khaki pants and a uniform shirt. I'm not worried about the shirt at all, however, I am dreading MAJORLY having to shop for more work pants. It has taken me 7 years to find a work pant that works well and, being plus size, it wasn't easy (Dickies is my friend)... Now I'm terrified of the day I will have to find plus size AND maternity khaki work pants. (Dickies does not carry maternity clothes) Ugh.

Luckily, being overweight, I'm 10 weeks and no where near showing anytime in the coming weeks so belly bands will have to do for a while when I do start to have trouble fastening them.

Well, I just got offered a new job today, so my work attire is about to go from casual jeans and whatever top I throw on that day to dressier business wear... Sooo I'm basically gunna need a whole new wardrobe. I'm fitting into all my clothes fine right now at almost 11 weeks, but as a 3rd time mom I have a feeling the day will come in the next few weeks when I'm gunna just "pop" and then I'm worried I'll be in trouble! Not to mention they don't know I'm pregnant... But that's another bridge to cross!!! lol anyway, to answer the question... I'm hoping to spend minimally on maternity clothes. I hated them in my last pregnancy so I will be trying to get away with as much "normal" clothing as I can

Me too! Everything still fits and i think a dress, for my body shape, will be fantastic! Any pants i buy i have take in at the inseam so i dont really want to invest on that.

I'm overweight also, and I got away with not buying any maternity clothes last time, except one pair of work pants. This time, I'm bloating a lot more than last pregnancy. I found a girl on a Facebook yard sale group that has tons of maternity clothes in my size, and will sell stuff to me for $5/max per piece. So hopefully I'll get over there this weekend to see what she's got :)

I'm dreading spending money on maternity clothes for work. I'm hoping a consignment shop has a maternity section, DH mentioned garage sales but it's december and we live in Michigan so none of that really goes on until around may. Hoping for some hand me downs if possible.

My office is pretty much the same as yours, except I can wear khakis. I'll probably get 5-6 pairs of pants and a bunch of tank tops/short sleeve shirts that I can wear under my current cardigan stash.

I'm one of those bare minimum types. I think you can get away with two pairs of dress pants (we do laundry often here) and more tops. I got like a plain white one that I could wear under any of my sweaters. In the winter I do a lot of white shirt with open sweater. And then you can still use your tons of normal sweaters and such.

Last time around, I did not buy many maternity pants...maybe 3-4 pair? But I also bought some larger sized non-maternity pants, like stretchier ones from Kohls or somewhere, that were relatively inexpensive, comfy, and worked post-partum too. Not stretch pants, just slacks with a good amount of give. I did more basic maternity tops and changed them up with my regular, non-maternity cardigans or jackets to make my tops go further. A few non-maternity, "floatier" style tops too which again were useful pp. For skirts I picked up two stretchier ones (ON I think, non-maternity) and they worked for my whole pregnancy, even though my last was due in July too so spanning Dec-July. Good luck and you can get away with less if you want to and shop around.

I have always pretty much lived in khakis (I'm a hs teacher), so I went to the local consignment shop and got two pairs of maternity khakis (only set me back about $14, nice). So far, I can still fit most of my shirts, since I was busty to begin with, so very little button-down in my life and lots of flowy and stretchy. I figure I won't be "popped" too much before the twice a year baby's consignment sale I go to all the time to buy clothes for my goddaughter, and they always have a nice selection of reasonably priced maternity clothes.

I bought a pair of black pants and a pair of grey pants the last time that I'll use again. I figure you can get away with wearing the black ones twice a week without it being obvious. I also have two maternity skirts and two summery maternity dresses that I'll wear with cardigans at work. I forget how many shirts I have, but I was able to get away with wearing some of my regular shirts too. I also have about five regular skirts that I'll be able to wear too. I'd like to get a few more shirts this time and I then I'll be done. Toward the end of my pregnancy with DS (when nothing fits), I told my coworkers to just get used to seeing me wear the same things every week.

I am a teacher so last time I got away with 1 pair of black pants and 1 pair of khakis (wore each 2x a week) then jeans on Friday. In the spring/summer I also mixed in stretchy maxi skirts from Target/Old Navy and a few maternity dresses. I did find a lot of nice dressy maternity shirts at Ross, Motherhood, and Target. I also used my regular cardigans layered over maternity tanks.

Old navy, jc penny and macys online have plus sized maternity that don't break the bank. I'm a teacher and on my feet so they hardest part for me is comfy shoes!

For winter/spring I've been stocking up on long, open sweaters where I can switch up the under tanks.

I didn't even think about layering with cardigans for some reason! I'll probably have to update what I have on that front, but at least I know I can wear those post pregnancy so I don't cringe as much spending the money.

Ugh, I'm at this very moment hoping my boss doesn't notice that my work pants are workout pants from old navy!! Yesterday, the button popped on my favorite pair of work pants! I'm a banker, so we are business casual, with a blazer. I'm asking for gift cards to motherhood, Ross and target for Xmas so I can get some maternity clothes pronto!!

I teach so I get away with leggings, a pair of khakis and a few "skinny" pants. I think I bought more shirts. I live in maxis for spring and summer.

I borrowed a lot from friends last time. I bought 3-4 pairs of dress slacks, 7-8 dress shirts, and 5 dresses. That's what I plan to wear this time too.

I'm a lawyer so I'll need at least one suit.  Ugh.  Other than that I hope to get away with a dress or two, two pairs of slacks, and two skirts, plus a couple of button down shirts and a bunch of knits and sweaters.

I bought my first maternity dress this week, even though my regular clothes still fit.  It's a black knit dress by Japanese Weekend and I love it -- I'm going to wear it to a dinner party tonight if my husband agrees it doesn't look too huge on my abdomen.

I came back because I thought it might be helpful to share that last time around one of the single most flattering maternity clothing items I had was a maternity wrap dress from the Gap. Comfy and looked great!

I have a similar dress code to what you have. I've picked up a couple pairs of black pants and will likely pick up some grey ones and some other color. I'm relying heavily on dresses and tights to get me through.

My Banana Republic Visa card gets me rewards to use at old navy and gap, so I'm doing all of my Xmas shopping with the card Nd saving the rewards to get more stuff when it's time. A lot of my work tops are blousy and I should have plenty of cardigans, those will get me through the early months. Since most of my big time will be during the summer I don't want to go buying too much yet!

I'm lucky I wear teal scrubs for work. But I will have to get bigger tops and maternity bottoms...
