First AF=hell...anyone?

So this is my first AF PP, and I enthusiastically welcomed it BUT it's clearly out to get me. I've felt nauseous, faint, had the runs, the whole shebang.

I'm hoping this is NOT the new norm for me, and all this means I'll be extra fertile now (kidding). Anyone else have an awful first AF after BCP or a baby that went back to normal? Give me hope ladies!

Mine was pretty bad. Kind of like when I was a teenager. BCP are sometimes used to ease premenstrual symptoms so it makes sense that things will be a little more intense now that you're off of them. Sorry.

Post BCP, my first six months or so gave me terrible migraines and back cramps, but things have now gotten much lighter and the migraines went away as did the back cramps.

I went of BCP in October 2012. My first few cycles that I actually ovulated I definitely had "enhanced" PMS symptoms. My body is starting to get used to the hormones again and the PMS symptoms have calmed down a bit, but I still get super sore boobs for a few days which I don't ever remember happening when I was younger.

I went off of BC once for two years after a traumatic relationship (didn't want to have a relationship for quite a while).

When I did, I had a heavy period for two weeks that would rival any I had as a teen. It made me worry about becoming anemic. It did sort itself out after the first two months, but my periods where ALWAYS heavier while off BC.

My first PP AF wasn't too bad, but the symptoms leading up to it each month were the pits. I had extreme nausea, the runs, exhaustion, you name it. Throw in TTC during that period and I was a wreck (because I was so sure that each cycle was the one I would get a BFP). Things are finally starting to get back to normal now, about 4 months later. Still have some mid-cycle spotting, but even that seems to be lessening each month as well.. I'm being cautiously optimistic!

Starting to temp and take OPKs really helped me calm down, since I could start to track patterns in my symptoms and not get so worked up about not understanding what was going on.

My periods have been lighter and a bit shorter since having DS. I used to have 7 days of heavy bleeding (like super tampon every hour for 4 days straight, with some medium days on either side). Now they're 4-5 days of medium flow. I like my PP body. :P

I second PP. My first PP AF was the worst I've ever experienced but leveled off and are much shorter and more tolerable than ever before. Stay encouraged it could work in your favor

My first AF after DD was horrible!! Luckily, they got better over time and now they are much easier to handle than before having her.

My first AF after BCP was terrible! I went through those humongously large tampons every hour and thought I was dying because I had every bad AF symptom that you can get. Luckily they are getting better now. They are still irregular but I no longer feel like I need to live in the bathroom.
