What are you all taking to help with acid reflux? Is Zantac safe? I have heard conflicting things about Zantac but I need something stronger than Tums.
Totally with you. I'm planning on mentioning it tomorrow at my MW appointment. With DS I took Protonix for a little bit until my samples ran out - it was fabulous. I'm not sure about Zantac. Maalox I think is safe and is a smidge better than Tums IMO.
I will try the Maalox and the Pepcid AC. I am desperate! Thank you! It is horrible this pregnancy!. Worse than any of my other pregnancies. Praying they help!
Our doctor has me taking Zantac 150mg twice a day - I have been doing this since week 6. Some days it helps, other days it useless. I've found that my reflux isn't so bad when I avoid drinks during meals, and when I slow down my drinking - I tend to gulp, which doesn't help at all.

I rotated between Tums and Mylanta my first pregnancy. My reflux was so bad that I would literally throw up in the middle of the night. I stopped eating several hours before bedtime and slept with extra pillows to be elevated. That helped me a ton.
Thank God for acid reducer medicines! Luckily, there is a variety to choose from. Ask your doctor if you are unsure but mine said that Zantac was fine. I take 75 mg daily and it's a life saver.

Zantac (ranitidine) = sweeet relief. It's on my OB's list of approved OTC drugs during pregnancy. I take it daily.
Now that you've mentioned your "mixed reviews" on Zantac, I'm starting to fear that I'm giving my kid a second evil head or something. Maybe I should go back to a half gallon of milk and a half bottle of Tums a day...
By mixed reviews I was simply meaning some Drs say it is safe while others don't recommend it. It is a pregnancy category B so it can't be that bad. Don't worry, no two heads growing. Not a side effect.....lol.
Another vote for Zantac. I take it in the morning when I wake up, and then again before dinner. It's best if you take it a half hour or more before eating. Sometimes I still need tums to take the edge off, but Zantac makes life so much better.
I just started on Zantac at the advice of my MW yesterday and last night was the first night I have slept well in months. It is seriously a life saver. My reflux had gotten to the point that I couldn't sleep at all, even propping myself up, taking TONS of tums, and limiting food before bed. It was awful.
