Redneck, Mirask, and MommaP, don't fret so. PPs were correct. Every child is different and meets these milestones at different rates. As my mom loves to point out, "Everyone is there own special, little snowflake." As for dd, she says hi in context and clearly. Mamamamama means give me my way now (It can stand for me, food, more, give me, down, water, milk). She waves goodbye and signs milk (for milk, water, food, and more - it's driving me nuts ) and bird (animal). She's still brilliant. I'm sure of it.
Too many to count. He's saying 2-3 word sentences at this point (i.e. "more please" or "thank you mommy") He's way more verbal than my other 2 kids (especially for a boy... Carter wasn't intersted in saying ANYTHING at his age) and it's probably just because he's trying to keep up. He's been doing everything much faster than my others.

I feel like this post would be a lot different if it was words your LO says that other people actually understand. Someone's LO may say 18 words - but how many of those are words that you, as the parent, have come to recognize, rather than the child actually being able to vocalize those words properly?
For instance, our daughter says "Billy" - the name of our cat - but no one else would get it because she calls him "bee". We know what she is saying, but that's because we're with her all the time.
I am not putting down anyone here. At all. I think it's wonderful if your child has learned to use his or her words. At the same time, I think it's important for parents with LO's who aren't saying many words yet to recognize that toddlers sometimes call things by different names or just enjoying babbling away. I don't think there should be any cause for concern yet.

Fucking stuck again
This was my point by saying she has a bunch of things only I (or dcp) would understand.
I don't think anyone, at this point, should be worried about language unless your child isn't responding at all to you. Our pedi asked if she said any words, not a specific #, and if she could follow simple commands - sometimes. L doesn't talk very much, but when I ask her where her milk is, she will go on a wild goose chase around the house until she finds her milk cup and comes back with it. I think we are okay.
To Kellers point, I am sure each kid here does at least one thing better/faster/earlier than they should typically at this point. Momma's give yourselves a break sometimes. You are all excellent parents (at least from the personas online - now Mirask, go change H's diaper - hahaha)

The kid is ridic. I don't think Carter really said anything until he was 2, ha! Brynn falls somewhere in the middle, but Reid. That kid. It's like as soon as he found out there was another baby on the way he stepped up his game. Started walking and talking like "I'm the big brother."
ETA: And if it makes you feel any better he's also saying "NO, MOM" when I ask him a question. He's too much.
DS1 easily had 20+ words by this point but still wasn't walking. Dd has been walking forever but maybe says 10: mama, daddy, dog, belle (our dogs name), papaw, hot, no, yes, up, night night.
Liam goes around saying "Oh shit... OHHH SHIT!!" or "oh shit?" or holy shit. he says mama dada and just recently walks around the house yelling BALL ball balll ball and piper. who is our cat. he gets it confused with papa (grandpa).

:-O
Holy sh!t. Wow. He's super cute too
I am ridiculously impressed right now. ETA: My turns-3-on-Saturday DS is JUST NOW saying those 2-3 word sentences.

I think I'm gonna need a video for proof. I can't even picture a baby (cause my s12 is still my baby) speaking like that
I figured that DD was behind on expressive language because she is a little tumbler and has been working on physical development- she moves, walks, practically runs, climbs and gets up on top of everything. I think that seeing a huge increase in her comprehension makes me feel better. Of course the mommy in me has this little tiny person in the back of my head nagging and saying "what if you did this...". This post is affirmation that she's just fine.
Sorry, but I call bullshit on the whole "my 15 month old is talking in sentences."
My niece was slow for every single milestone except for talking. She was 15 months when she started putting 2-3 words together and she didn't even walk yet. It's not the norm but it definitely happens.
This is toward those who doubt a child as young as our LO's could *possibly* be speaking in 2-3 word sentences, NOT AT ALL toward those who are worried their LOs aren't saying enough.
It happens, yo. Not common, or probably the norm, but... it happens. Feast your eyes on this lil lady!
