March 2014 Moms

I'm soooo sick of hearing ....

So as I'm walking out of wal mart this afternoon , there's this really sweet girl ringing the bell collecting money for Salvation Army . So i say I'll do my good deed for the day and drop some money in her bowl . As I do she says to me " oh when are you due" ? I proceed to tell her March 24 , she then says wooooow your big I thought you were further along , you have a long ways to go have fun with that ! These comments are getting annoying !

This is really getting to me as well. At first everyone was telling me I was "soo small" and "no one can even tell your pregnant". Now that I've popped out everyone keeps saying "you're going to be huge by the end", "you're getting close right?". Today my one co-worker literally put her hand out to measure, in front of my belly, how much bigger she believes I will get in the next 3 months. Thanks for making me feel larger than I already feel!

ETA: Wanted to add, same co-worker yesterday wanted to have an office pool to guess how big LO will be at birth. She said she guesses 9lbs because I'm already "so big"....

Same! Beside the point, and don't want to start a debate- but there's a pic going around FB of the Salvation Army workers with a sign saying gay people deserve to die (or something like that) .... Think it's real??? In previous years I have always been a volunteer with ringing the bells so I sure hope it isn't real!!!!
    Snopes says it's not.

Oh my goodness, I have had people tell me that a lot, but I had my first insult yesterday. This CPA came to my office to reconcile one of our accounts. This was the honest to goodness conversation:

CPA: Oh wow you have gotten huge since last month!
    Me: Yep, I popped.
CPA: When are you due again?
    Me: March 7.
CPA: ::weird hysterical giggling:: oh my goodness you are huge! I am surprised it's not twins!
    Me: Nope.
CPA: Are they sure nothing is wrong?
Me: Well actually I have extra fluid, so I am measuring ahead.
CPA: ::More weird hysterical giggling:: That sucks for you, I bet you can't wait for the baby to get out so you can look normal again.
Me: (getting a little annoyed) Well actually the baby is sick, so no I'm not in a hurry.
CPA: ::More laughter:: I'm sure he'll be fine.
Me: He actually has to have open heart surgery and has down syndrome.
CPA: ::laughs even MORE:: wow! That really sucks for you!

Seriously, I was so annoyed. I assume she was just being super awkward and kept saying the wrong thing, but every single sentence just got worse and worse. And the laughing!
  • @laura8388 I'm not sure if the pic is real but the Salvation Army is very Christian and very Anti-Gay.

I'm getting the opposite comments, that I look too small, or "that's it?" Which is ridiculous because I don't look small at all. You just cannot win.

When I tell them mid-Feb they say I'll never make it, then when I explain that it is twins they tell me I don't look big enough.  Sorry I can't win with you stranger at Target.
Good idea I'll try that !!! Better yet I'll just tell people I'm due any day now !! In the beginning no one could tell I'm pregnant , now all of a sudden I've popped and people have jokes ! I didn't even think I was that big !

  • DH got a treat at a holiday party when he was standing next to me and women were making all those inappropriate comments people make (including my favorite, "Oh! I just thought you were getting fat").  Afterwards he asked if people really said things like that to me all day long.

  • @babylimas.....I am so sorry they were so rude to you. They should be ashamed of themselves for acting that way.

I actually am having twins and I get the comment of how I am not big enough to be having twins. And no one that has made those comments have twins themselves so how would they even know??

People just need to say only nice things to pregnant women or just shut their mouths.

I have had many people say to me oh look how cute. When are you due? March 11th oh wow still quit a ways a way. I always says it feels like no time at all to me. Then I get the lovely are you sure it's not twins? Um yep it's 2013 I saw my single baby in 4d!
  • Oh twins! Do they run in your family?! I know people are curious, but my goodness. Plus, anytime someone asks that, I feel compelled to explain that identical twins don't run in families like fraternals do. I'm tempted to just start telling the random strangers that ask, yes

  • Oh, and I should say I wasn't mad at this woman afterwards. She is insanely awkward and it was obviously very nervous laughter. It was just so over the top that I had to walk away. She kept digging herself deeper and deeper. She got her work done so fast that morning, so I bet she totally knew she screwed up.
  • @babylimas I am so sorry anyone would have the gall to say something so terrible. Assfaces.

I think since we haven't hit Christmas yet, people still think March is an eternity away. No. Its like around the corner. Plus it really doesn't help that women about to give birth on tv look like they are in their 6th month. That last month is brutal, lol.

Yea I've had a few comments about how far away March is. I always just say "yep only a couple more months". I think if I weren't pregnant I'd think March seems far away too, especially with all the snow in between.

  • I had a school event last night where my chorus performed at a local store.  I am new to the building this year so the parents didn't know what I looked like pre-pregnancy. I overheard one parent say to another, "HOW pregnant is she?"  Gee, thanks.  And yes, I can hear you.

Them- " oh your having a baby"

    Me -"Yes I am"

Them -" oh it's definately going to be a boy"

    Me -" we'll actually it's a girl"

Them- " no way possible look at how you are carrying"

Me -" actually I have had 2 ultrasounds and both said girl"

Them- "They are so wrong he must be hiding"

Me -" we'll see in march"

Them -" just wait, I'm always right!"

Oh. My. GOD!  What an idiot.  I hope you think of something clever to say to her next time she comes in.  Not snarky, just clever and something that is just enough to make her feel dumb and uncomfortable.

  • I work with a bunch of middle-aged women who were "baffled" at my 15 week bump..."Oh my....I don't think I was that big until the sixth month! Are you sure you're not carrying twins!?" Now it's "you must be soooo uncomfortable..." Nope, I'm good. Sometimes I wonder why people feel the need to say anything at all!
  • I'm the opposite. Everyone is telling me I look too thin! Like I lost weight or like I am sick And that I'm not big for 28 weeks! I just wanna pop and have swollen feet and face!!!
  • DHs aunt is absolutely obnoxious with this.... Worst part is she thinks she is relating/being funny. At thanksgiving she greeted me with "hey there fattie!" Then last night I posted a pic on FB of DH and me with him all decked out in his Army gear. Her comment? "WOW!! Can you get any huger?!"

    seriously?

for months everyone here was crying because they wanted to see defined bumps and now that you have them and people comment on how big they are you complain?

For christ's sake it's not an insult, it's an observation and one that people love to see.

I am having twins and I am huge, and everyday people comment, and laugh and want to see my profile.  Strangers smile when they see me.  It's part of being pregnant and people love to see it.

nothing wrong with big healthy bellies on healthy women.

I don't get why it's annoying or upsetting.

Obviously you look big, so laugh and be happy along with them.

A lady at my work tells me "She is watching me grow bigger each day". While I am happy that I am showing.. it does get old after a while. The one thing that kinda gets to me is when I am talking to someone then I notice they are looking at my belly.. it is weird.. like are they hearing what I am saying or are they just sizing me up, lol.
