Question for SPD Ladies

Is this something that gets progressively worse throughout the day? I am curious because the past several evenings I am in so much pain that I can barely stand without crying. I wasn't sure if I was just experiencing normal pregnancy pains or if it was SPD. Also, would I treat them any different? Is there anything I can do differently for SPD that I wouldn't do for just normal pregnancy pains?

  • I don't have answer for you, but I get this too.

  • The only way I know to describe it is it feels like someone is pulling my hips apart very slowly and painfully. It is a pulling and bruising feeling at the same time. The pain doesn't just stay near my hips, it feels like it has spread to my lower back and my very upper inner thighs. I am really looking for words to describe this and it is unlike anything I have experienced.

  • I have not been diagnosed with SPD.  My OB did tell me to wear a support belt and supportive shoes at all times which does help some but I can tell you that by 5 or 6 pm each day I am in a great deal of pain, no matter what.  Getting up to go to the bathroom in the night is excruciating and I really do have to steady myself as I get up b/c it feels like my legs may not support me.  I keep saying that I definitely remember the last 4-6 weeks totally sucking with my previous pregnancies, but I do not remember feeling this intense pain at 30 weeks!  I will also be mentioning it to my dr again next week but I suspect that there is not really anything else I can do.  Another reason why this baby has got to be my last!  My body is rebelling in every possible way!

  • Yes! I definetely feel like I have been horseback riding!! I feel this all day long. It is the pulling of the hips I feel in the evening.

Thanks for the advice. I keep avoiding supportive shoes, but guess I just need to go get some.

The shoes really do make the biggest difference for me.  I'm mostly teleworking these days and don't wear shoes around the house but I really should.  My doc said its most important that they have good heel support.  Oh and she also suggested buying mens Dr. Scholls inserts and cutting them to fit so you can use those with flats.  She said don't bother with the womens b/c they only support up to like 120 lbs and that's not enough for a pregnant woman.
