I've given up on bibs

DS just pulls them off.  Every.single.time.  I don't want to buy bibs with snaps instead of velcro...we already have so many bibs and he won't use them forever anyway.  I remember DD doing the same thing about this age.  My laundry pile going to triple!

EDIT- DS is 14.5 months.  Ticker won't update for the life of me!

  • I stopped using bibs awhile ago. DS will make a mess regardless, so I don't see the point in them anymore.

  • What about smocks?  I honestly don't know how other babies can have a bib and not be messy.  DS self-feeds and smears food all over, so the only way to keep him fairly clean is to put a smock on him.  We like the Bumkins one.

  • eva never ate purees so we never even used em.  i can imagine them getting old
  • We haven't do everything bibs in a long time, either. We still use one with soup but that's about it. An easy solution would be to get a snap applicator and add a snap yourself. They're less than two bucks at Walmart and come with a handful of snaps.

  • Ooh I love that so many other moms don't use bibs either! We gave up a long time ago, and just strip the baby down if we are eating anything especially messy. I do think this drives the grandparents nuts!!
  • I stopped using bibs.  DS pulls them off but his clothes don't get too messy

  • DS never would keep a bib on at all.  If we're having something really messy I just take his shirt off altogether.  He loves to have his belly out.

  • I gave up months and months ago.... Every once in awhile if we are eating something particularly messy, or wearing something white or cute, I try again... but it never stays on for long.

  • We never used bibs when DS was a baby. But since he started teething, he's been soaking shirts so we have been using several bibs a day.
  • We use Tommee Tippee Easi-roll bibs. Love them! They catch the food DD drops, clean up so easily and she can't pull them off. I don't put one on if she's eating a "low mess" meal.

  • We usually don't use them either. DS takes them off, and he flips out about the ones with snaps rather than velcro.

I have seen some that are like a backless shirt (smock?) that look great.
