Retroverted uterus

My doc told me that I've got a retroverted uterus but she didn't explain to me what that meant. I sort of forgot about it until now...anybody out there have this and can tell me what it means for me and baby? :) I read briefly that it could mean that it takes me longer to show, but I'm trying to stay away from google!

Thanks, Ladies!

Re: Retroverted uterus

  • I believe it just means that instead of your uterus tipping forward like most women, your uterus tips backwards.  Hence the longer to show!

  • I think it just means it's tipped towards your spine while most are tipped towards the front. As baby grows it will straighten out and most likely have no impact on anything.

  • Your uterus tips backwards unlike most women.  I have that too.  It can take longer to hear baby's heartbeat at the beginning because of this and you might have back labor (also depends on baby's position often) when you do go into labor.

  • I have one as well. I have heard that it could cause some trouble while TTC. The main issue that I have and had with my previous pregnancy is a lot of low back pain and back labor. Nothing that is harmful to the baby though. I have also hear that as the baby grows it can help to correct the tilted uterus by pulling it forward.
  • I've always had this and these are babies 7&8. No big deal. :)
  • it means tipped.. lits like being left or right handed my doctor says lol
