Trying to Get Pregnant

Head rush? Wondering.. :-)

Hello,
My name is Jackie and I am new to these message boards. Me and my husband have been TTC since October of this year. I've been on the pill for 12 years with only one 6 month break from it 4 years ago. We didn't use any protection and didn't get pregnant at that time. Now I have been on an ultra low carb diet trying to lose weight for about 6 weeks. My first period in October was 7 days which is extremely long for me- usually I am like 4 to 5 days while on the pill. I ovulate about day 14 or so but seems to change. In November, I had a 3 day period which suddenly stopped! It didn't taper off just quit entirely without notice. Then about a week later I had brown spotting and cramping and then on and off I have seemed to have all different symptoms such as headaches, cramping, lightheaded and these weird head rushes I have been getting pretty consistently. I never noticed them before, but I'm not sure if I am just paying closer attention. Now I am one day before my expected period and all tests have been negative so far. My cramping and all other symptoms quit over the weekend and now just the head rushes still.

My question is- have any of you ever had head rushes as part of early pregnancy symptoms? Have you ever had head rushes and not been pregnant? I seem to be able to find all other symptoms as part of PMS except for head rushes :-) I have no other children and have never been pregnant so I appreciate any input!!

Thank you :-)

Your cycles on BC aren't any indication of what your natural cycles will be...especially after years of steady hormones.
    Take a test.

Eta oh, sorry. You already tested, just reread the OP. I'm sure those negative tests were just lying though. Don't worry.

  • Ok definitely
Not a low carb problem I have been on low carb before. :-) pretty sure I don't have a brain tumor...
  • Sorry I thought this board was open to questions and friendly. I will make sure not to post here anymore since all you have time to do is make fun of people.
  • Your "normal" cycle while on the pill is being regulated therefore not necessarily your true real cycle. Give yourself time for your hormones to adjust. It can take up to a year for you body to do so. In the meantime, please read the newbie blog and you will see why you are getting snark. Am I pregnant posts are not well received here.

  • My experience may not mean anything for you. Everyone is different & reacts to pregnancy/life differently.

That said, first trimester I did experience light headed bouts frequently. It had to do with BP drops & extra blood flow. The solution is to stay hydrated, eat small, protein packed snacks very often & get up slowly. I did not experience these issues until 10 or 11 weeks into pregnancy though. Long after I got my positive home pregnancy test.

So, what does that mean for you? Really, nothing at this stage. Your change in diet may be affecting your health or you could be pregnant. There is only one way to find out. Take an HPT.

Also, not every odd feeling or sickness is pregnancy related because you are TTC. You could just be feeling poorly.

Good luck. For future reference, fishing for us to tell you that you are pg with X, Y or Z symptom is generally frowned on.

  • Yes, being light headed CAN be an early pregnancy symptom. That said, I've noticed that I am light headed Every cycle from ovulation day until I get my period. No pregnancy here yet.

  • Lurking is excellent preventative butt-hurt medicine.

To answer your question though, yes, when I was late second tri and my ute was huge and pressing on everything. BUT every pregnancy is different. Save yourself a lot of heartache and don't play the comparison game even if you are pregnant. Only a test will confirm that you're expecting. GL.

  • It really could be your diet. I know you've said you've done low carb before, but you did say "extreme' low carb. Back in high school when I played sports, I went literally a year without getting my period (I told the gyno about it and she said it was fine as long as I wasn't trying to get pregnant) and would get light headed all the time. Ate normal, just exercising a lot. What you eat and exercise can affect your cycle, and can affect whether you get light headed.

You're extreme low carb diet could very well be the cause of your lightheadedness because you may not be getting the calories/nutrients your body needs.

  • I try to stay away from giving medical advice around here. But from my own experience, I get dizzy (if that's what you mean by head rush) when my blood sugar is low or I'm dehydrated. Drink lots of water and eat more carbs! If, after doing that, you are still having problems or it gets worse, go to your doc. TBH, I don't think it's a sign of pregnancy in your case. So much for not giving medical advice.

  • When I first started TTC, I wrote down every "symptom" I had during the 2ww (including regularly wacking my boobs to see if they "hurt more" than usual), because I thought it would be cute to look back at my earliest moments of pregnancy. Now, 5 months later, I realize that I was crazy and you will realize it too. This 2WW, I am going to try to ignore my body (as I used to when I wasn't TTC). Try and do the same for your sanity. Good luck!
