Weight Gain

Re: Weight Gain

  • I'm right there with you, Bevo. I'm 17w5d and I've put on a good 12-13 lbs. I can't help it! I'm so hungry! I'm trying very hard not to worry about it and hope that things start to slow down.

I type this as I'm eating Butterfinger Bells.

  • I was up 4 pounds at my 16 week visit. I seriously thought it would be more because of how much food I eat (and apparently I didn't need any extra calories at all during 1st Tri?! News to me) and how big my belly is.

  • I'm up about 9lbs at almost 19w.
  • I'm 17 weeks 4 days and i'm up 18lbs last time i weighed. I only weigh once a week now, on monday mornings. woohoo i think i win!

not concered though. i've been eating healthy for the most part, and eating when i'm hungry and not to excess. i had no morning sickness at all so i've basically just been super hungry for the entire pregnancy so far.

thing is my doctor has my weight gain totally different than i do, at my last appointment according to my scale i'd gained 13 lbs, and she thinks i've gained 5lbs. least i won't be getting reprimanded.

  • Well according to my doctors scale (which is on carpet and less accurate) I've gained about 10. But according to my scale at home it's about 5 lbs gained. And I'm 16 weeks. I'm tryin to eat multiple small healthy meals throughout he day because I still get a little nausea here and there if I don't eat. I've pretty much stopped any and all exercise. I think I've lost a lot of muscle tone which is why it seems like I haven't gained as much as I feel I have. Cookies and sweets at work this time of year are really not helping me in the weight management department.

  • Something weird I've noticed is that I actually weigh less after I've woken up and gotten a bunch of water in me. I'd like to preface this by saying that I've always weighed myself at random times for no reason. I know this is going to make me sound like some kind of weight-obsessed nut. Pre-pregnancy, I'd weigh about 4 lbs less in the morning than the night before, and instantly go up a few lbs once I'd drank a bunch of water and eaten breakfast. Now I don't really notice much weight change before going to bed and waking up and peeing, and I actually weigh a few ounces less after I've eaten and gotten some water in me. I just find it odd. Carry on.

  • At almost 19 weeks, I'm still a pound under my pre-preg weight....I don't get it! All I do is eat! My tummy and boobs are getting much bigger but my pants are sagging majorly in my butt, and my arms are tiny. I'm actually starting to get worried!

Looks like that so far I get the most gained award. :(

Everyone starts in a different place. I gained 20 pounds doing fertility treatments and had only lost 10 of that when I found out the IUI worked and I was pregnant so I really had some I still needed to lose.

I always weight myself in the morning. I wouldnt call myself weight obsessed either, but being a bigger girl I have always watched my weight. I know the scale can really fluctuate for me (wearing clothes vs no clothes, if I have eaten yet, time of day). I can see a 5 lb jump between the AM and PM measurement. This is the first time in my adult life that I have walked away from the scale, but when I do get curious enough to hop on I do it first thing in the morning to be consistent.

  • 16 weeks 3 days... As of last week I gained 10 lbs. I feel heavier today though!

I dunno. I refuse to step on a scale.

This. At my last appt I had lost 2, but wasstl up 6 since my last pre-pregnancy appt. I go back the 20th and am pretty nervous.
On the bright side, by this point my sister had already gained 20....... So there's always that.
  • For those that are feeling bad about their weight gain, I don't know if this is true, but I heard that if you gain a lot in the first half of pregnancy, you're less likely to get stretch marks.

Please let this be true!!!! ;) I am up about 8-9 lbs @ 19w3d

I feel like I've gained about 50 if that matters.... Bleh!

  • I'm up 5 lbs in 17 weeks. My food aversions and low appetite kept me from gaining much in the first tri. I bet I've gained about 3 lbs in the past 3 weeks now that I'm starting to eat normally again. Hooray food!

  • I'm currently fluctuating between an 8-10lb weight gain. I'm 18 weeks today with twins.
  • 2 lbs at 18.3 weeks, doc said I'm doing "great"!
  • My weight is weird in that I fluctuate about 5 lbs depending on the day. Some mornings I've only gained like 2 lbs and other mornings, like today, I gained 9lbs. I blame the cinnamon roll and jeans for the additional weight gain. Really. I do.

(And ok, that is more than a 5lb weight fluctuation).

Though, tbh, I think I've gained 6lbs and I'm 18w6d today. Total goal is max of 20lbs.

You can do it! I mainly kept her on a every 2-2.5 hour schedule those first 12 weeks as not to lose my supply. Ensure your consuming enough calories plus 1 oz of water per lb of weight to stay hydrated. It's such an emotional roller coaster breastfeeding, isn't it? I'm still BF DD at 11 months and I can't help but always worry she's not getting enough! I think mamas are pre programmed to always worry!

Well, that makes me feel shitty that I've probably gained almost 20 at 18 weeks. Really, though, up to week 20, I gained a lb/week last time and ended up gaining 55-ish last time. I had to work my butt off getting back into exercise/running mode, but lost it all in the 6 months before I got pregnant again. So, I'm honestly just not stressing about it this time. I gain easily and don't lose easily, pregnant or not. Not really anything I can so about it unless I'm going to starve myself during pregnancy....

  • I've been holding steady since 12 weeks +/-2lbs for water weight fluctuations.

I lost around 20ish pounds before 12weeks but that was a combination of morning sickness and losing the ART weight (I always gain during my treatment cycles, and lose about the same amount after). I like where I am right now weight wise- but I'm obese so there's no need for me to gain at all. If I can make it to 40 weeks without gaining more than 5 from here- I'll be ecstatic and consider this pregnancy a real win. I'm not going to flog myself if I can't though- I just want to stay under the weight I was when I started.

  • 10 pounds at 17 weeks. I was gaining like crazy in the beginning and then I didn't gain anything from 12 1/2 wks to 17 wks, so my doc is encouraging me to eat all the food!
  • 17 wks.. No weight gain since first appt.... But I guesstimate I weighed about 10lbs less pre-pregnancy. I find it weird I was 10lbs up at 8 weeks & have maintained. dumbfounded. Hmm..
  • I weigh approx 158 every time I weigh myself at home but my Dr's scale has me up to 164. I think I've gained maybe 10lbs max?

  • I have gained about 5 lbs, but I am about 10 lbs heavier to start with this pregnancy than with my first son. I gained 80 lbs total last time so I am hoping to do a better job of not being a whale this time. :)

  • In the last three weeks I went from being down 3 pounds to up 6 pounds (I'm 20 weeks on Thursday). My coworker looked at me this morning and said, "I can tell you're pregnant now, what HAVE you been eating?" I'm blaming it on pregnancy and not the pound of See's truffles I ate.

  • @Katemr1146 My thoughts exactly!!

As of 18 weeks, I'm also only up three pounds and I was worried about it but my doctor doesn't seem worried yet.

My stomach is WAY huge already though. I love to pat it. Haha. I'm hoping for a few extra lbs. at my checkup on Thursday.

I got the worst stomach bug of my life last week, couldn't eat for a week, I maybe should have gone to get fluids because I was barely peeing, just going poo and throwing up at the same time, sorry for that. I'm still trying to bf my son also. When I went to my mw appt after I was sick I had lost 5 lbs, she wants me up around 15 lbs at this point, so around a pound a week. So that weight gain seems great. No one should be upset about weight gain, were all pregnant & we need to eat! I wish I was up more because I'm terrified of losing my milk. Also I wanted to add I wasn't someone who lost weight bfing. I was still up around 10lbs when I got pregnant this time around.
  • Finally gained 2 pounds, I am almost 20 weeks. DH is mad at me because he thinks I'm not eating enough, but first trimester nausea kicked my butt!

  • 17 weeks and I have gained about 11lbs. Not too worried as it seems to be going to my belly and boobs. Just more annoying and tiring on my body as I have never weighed this much before.

  • I was high-fived at my appointment two weeks ago for only having gained 2 lbs by my midwife. LO alone measured approximately 14 ounces at my AS two days ago, so I assume that I've actually gained almost nothing. Considering I spent most of first tri and a few weeks of second tri throwing up/not eating, I think she was just glad the scale had moved. I'm hoping to play catch up in the rest of second and third tri, I've been told to gain up to 15 lbs.
