Outdoor holiday decorations (NBR)

The holiday season has made me curious - how do you decorate for the holidays?  Are you a classic-white-lights-in-the-trees kind of person?  Or a there-must-be-a-light-on-every-piece-of-vegetation kind of person?  I'm mostly interested in outdoor decorations, but feel free to expound upon any holiday decorations you put up!

Also - does anyone have any of those jumbo ornaments hanging from trees outside?  I really would love to get some but my google-fu fails me.

  • DH would be Clark Griswold if he had enough lights!  Right now we have our front porch decorated with those rope lights and the dangly white lights on the front of the house.  I plan on going to get Christmas lights on sale the day after Christmas so next year he can go all out! He'd love to have all the trees done, as well.

I'm not a fan of those blow up things people put on their front yard though!

  • We got two little inflatables this year, a santa and a snowman, because Bradley really wanted it. I'm anti-all white lights, unless it's really classy (which it usually isn't around here), and I'm not a fan of icicle lights...and I don't really like the LED colors :)

    I swear I'm not a scrooge, I'm a multi-colored non-LED traditionalist

  • We just have white lights. The warm coloured ones. I hate the white ones that always look blue. They are wrapped around our lower porch and upper porch.... They may or may not still be there from last year X_X

I left up the lights strung across our back porch from last year.  I didn't have room to put them away, and you can hardly tell they're there unless you're looking (or maybe I'm just immune at this point?).  Woohoo lazy!

  • We do festive colorful lights outside and I like led ones because they are brighter. The only thing I don't like about the lights we have is that they have non Christmas colors in there like orange and purple. What is this, Mardi Gras?
Anyway, we do bushes and a lighted wreath. I refuse to have any other lawn decorations like reindeers because id just display them in inappropriate positions and get my neighbors upset....

  • I've never done outside decorations because we only ever had just enough lights for our tree. This year I got a bunch on sale so I am thinking I might put some colored lights out on the front bushes. Our tree has white lights this year and I love them!

  • We have white lights on all the bushes and trees, around the porch pillars, down the railings and icicles from the gutter across the front. I also have a beautiful wreath with silver and red on our green door with a spot light on it. We have a White House with black shutters and it is uber traditional New England so I went with that decor style. As much as toddlers love those inflatables I can't handle them. Every time one is purchased, an angel looses it's wings. These traditional decorations flies in the face of my wardrobe and eyetaliano heritage.

  • DH lives for Christmas, and actually when we were looking to buy our house one of his selling points was that the house was really perfect for putting on Christmas lights. Our lights are red and white and outline our rooftop, we got some pretty candy canes to put along the driveway, and have wreaths with big red and white ribbons on all the windows. We also have lit garland along the back fence. DH loves Christmas.
