  • I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I'll be thinking of you and hoping you find peace at this time.

Having an animal is like a member of the family.  I'd be so sad if something happened to one of my fur babies.  Here are Radar (our husky) - he was a rescue.  And Pixie (the Siamese ish looking one) & Miata.  Sisters from the same litter.

KendraColeslaw  - our cats look a lot alike!

  • i don't have any pets, but i'm sorry you're hurting and missing your baby :(  i remember what it was like to lose both of my dogs in high school and college, and it was the worst.  i sympathize with you today, friend :(

since my kiddo sometimes acts like an animal, i'll share something he did this morning:

we were still in bed and he came into our room when he woke up around 6:30.  he woke me up by kissing me on the cheek, stroking my face and saying "i love you, sweet baby" :)  (i often say this same phrase to him at night when i'm putting him to bed)

    precious.  love him to pieces!

you've already seen tons of photos of my kiddo, so i'll leave him as a mystery on the board.

@loveyoga7, I swoon over pics of men snuggling with puppies, it's as good as DH's snuggling babies ;) so adorable
Thank you @porterlove525. I can't wait to capture moments of my DH with our DD in 4 months. It's so cute that my DH isn't embarrassed to hold Tinky in public. He says he's comfortable with his masculinity and little purse dogs can be for anyone. This is a pic of them in public.
that's a sign of a "real man" right there ;)

I'm sorry for the hurt and can imagine the void it must leave- but these are my babies.

Scooby (he looks like his namesake) is my first dog. I got him in college in 2008 and it was just the two of us for a while before my DH came along. I swear the pup can read my thoughts and always knows when to give me space and when I need his snuggles. He's very smart and loves ice cubes and showing off his tricks to friends. He is 5 and will be 6 next year.

DH and I adopted Autumn (rust colored pooch) a few months after our first wedding anniversary in 2011. She had been badly abused and was terrified of physical contact- but lots of work and you'd never know it now! She shoves her brother out of the way for hugs and kisses! :) She's 3 going on 4 and keeps us laughing.

    Hugs and prayers to you!

I'm sorry you are missing your buddy. Opie is the first dog I've ever owned, I didn't even grow up with dogs! DH and I adopted him when he was 10 weeks old and had pneumonia and worms. I never realized how much I missed out by not having a dog all this time. Here is Opie after a recent bath.

  • Cali is our 1 year old black lab / pit and I don't know what I would do with out her! I'm so sorry for your loss

  • ((Hugs))

This is the funniest pic of DD. She wanted to take a picture with fur baby Finley. She was smiling as hard as can be with the sun in their eyes.
  • Reese is MY baby typical cat wants loved on her own terms and Heath is the newest addition to the family and loves to fart in my face!
  • We took this picture last night to get a few laughs in to help us de-stress! Fur babies are family...sorry for your loss.
  • So sorry about your fur baby! It's rough losing a furry family member!

This is Barry, he's a lab mix (we think border collie). He's 4 and has filled our lives with so much laughter and warmth, he's still a little crazy :)
  • My sweet fur baby, I couldn't imagine life without him. He's indeed a stage 5 clinger and obsessed with me but he conpletes me. His underbite is my favorite park and whoever said shih tzus were lazy was a lie!
  • I'm still so sorry for your loss, girl. :( Roxie looks like she was so sweet.

I don't have any pictures available to share, but we've got a couple of cats (named Kari and Mari--no relation!) that my daughter just loves (she squeals when they come into the room). We also just got a corgi (named Loki) this year and he has been a real handful but he's got a lot of potential! He's just still in that puppy phase, about 10 months old now.

  • This was taken today. Not my dog, but my sisters. Tommy is a big teddy bear and my Lucy loves to snuggle him. Ozzy my dog is the best dog ever! He's a 5yr old golden retriever and way too puppy like to ever get him to sit still long enough for a good pic :)image

  • I still remember when we had to put my childhood dog down when she was ill. Princess was my best friend for 16 years.
This is my stepcat Ziggy. He likes to eat. A Lot! He also likes to love bite my toes and he sleeps just like his daddy all curled up with his hand over his face. He drives me nuts but he is a good cat (don't tell dh I said that).

  • Aw, @MrscrCalli, (((((((hugs)))))))) I just saw this. I'll pm you a pic since it's on my Insta. :)

My fur babies are both poodle mixes, both rescues. I know that bumper sticker that said "who rescued who?" is cheesy, but it's also very true. Watching those two grow and heal their little doggie hearts over the last few years has been one of the biggest joys of my life. Watching them learn to trust, and to accept me and DH as their new home has been amazing. At first our oldest was a runner, and the trainer said he probably always would be. But now he comes regardless of where he is or what he's doing, because more than he wants to run and chase squirrels he wants to be with me.

I remember when we first got Logan. I'd never had a pet, and it took me a while to feel attached to him. I'd wanted a dog for so long, but I was afraid to love him at first. I'd never had anything so completely dependent on me before. I've also faced a lot of loss in my life, and the reality that I was going to love and care for a creature that was going to leave me in a decade and a half was incredibly daunting. Logan was not used to human love, and I wasn't used to loving something that seemed so impermanent and at the same time incredibly dependent. But we learned from each other; he learned to love and to trust, and I learned how to give my heart to something that I knew would ultimately break it.

But that's the risk we take when we love: we risk the object of our devotion leaving us or being taken away. Looking at my boys now (as they are curled up at my feet while I type) I can't imagine my life without them. I know whey won't be around forever. They won't even live to see my baby graduate high school, a thought which takes my breath away with the pain of it. But I wouldn't trade the pain of their passing for all the joy they bring me every day. Watching them go from stand-offish strangers to bonded brothers, getting doggie kisses every time my hand dangles over the couch, having a warm furry body to cuddle with when I'm feeling sad or sick, all worth it. I love them like they're my kids, and unlike my (future) kids they won't ever get too big for cuddles and belly rubs.

I'm sorry for the doggie-sized hole in your heart. And I really do believe that all good dogs - who have known and been changed by a human's love - go to heaven.

  • Late to the party, but, I know how tough losing a fur baby is. They are just pure love! Bug hugs.

Here is our little Máni Mú. (Mow-nee Moo.) Máni means moon, so, we often call him Moon Man.
I have tried several times to get him to wear bow ties. I'm sick in the head, I know. He was totally in our save the date video with a bow tie on. Here's another bow tie. Poor guy! He is curled up right next to me at the moment. He's hilarious and probably has forgiven me for the bow tie incidents. Probably.

I never thought of putting him in a bow tie before ;-)
