Those of you who have babies attached to a "lovey", stuffed animal etc, what has it done for your child? Does it calm them down, do they sleep better? How did you introduce it? Did they take to it right away?
I've got one of those things that has an animal head attached to a small fleece blanket. I've given it to DS a few times but he doesn't care for it (probably because its not chewable or has hard pieces), but I'd like to give him something to cuddle with. Does this take time? Should I try other objects? I currently have it shoved down my shirt in hopes my scent will capture his attention
Re: A lovey
I really like having some kind of lovey because no matter where we are, it always signals sleep to them and makes them comfortable sleeping at other peoples houses or hotels or in the stroller or carseat or whatever. We only let them have their lovey's at nap and night.
As for sids risk, I don't think the small squares of fabric are really a concern at this age. I don't know how old your son is, but I started giving my daughter her lovey around 5 months old. Do what you're comfortable with, but the only purpose of a lovey that I can think of is to give it to them as a sleep association, otherwise it's just another toy.
