Are you still working?

Like I said in an earlier post, I don't want to work anymore.

I do enjoy my job and I am terrified of leaving my duties to another person, but I am just so irritable and want to punch everyone in the face!

Can't decide if I should be an SS or a "didn't work before". I'm a SAHM, so I'm definitely working but I'm pretty sure you are just talking about working outside of the home.

ETA: When I was pregnant with DS I stopped working 2 weeks before he was due. My replacement had been hired and trained, and everyone knew I wasn't coming back so there wasn't a ton left for me to do. I used the two weeks to rest up, make freezer meals, and put the finishing touches (like paint!) on DS's nursery.

  • Still working if you can call it that. I'm just here for moral support for my replacement. My last day of work is the 20th can't wait!

  • Last day is the 20th as I'm due the Tuesday after winter break.  If I were due later in January, I'd be working as close to my due date as possible.

  • This first official week of disability leave. Walking became too hard and was spiking my BP too. I'm home until April-ish depending on when LO arrives.

  • Working until the Friday before I deliver LO on Monday. It's a low stress, low exercise job, so the way I stand medically at this point, there is no reason for me to leave yet.

  • I'm still working but I'm not the slightest bit happy about it. Hoping my doctor will let me take off before baby gets here. I hate my job...

  • Working, but hoping I can work remotely the week before my due date (assuming I'm on time and not early.)

  • I'm working and now I've been put in charge of finding my own replacement since the 2 my boss found were useless!

  • I'm working up until I can (hopefully my EDD) but I have no stress over leaving.  I hope they crash and burn without me!  My boss really needs to retire and I hope the stress of not having me there to do everything will break her and I will come back to a new boss in 6 months.  Well, a girl can dream!

  • I quit working just before 26 weeks because my job was too physically demanding.. That was medical leave. Maternity leave starts when babies are born and will not be returning after.

  • Delivering on January 24th, so my last day is January 23rd.

  • I'll work as long as I possibly can - I hope baby can hold out until my EDD of January 17, but if she keeps baking for longer, fine with me. We're hitting busy time right now, so the longer I can stay, the better.

  • I'm working until I deliver unless my doctor decides its causing too much stress. I got diagnosed with PVC last week and my BP has gone up (nothing dangerous since it has been low this whole time). Just finished a 24hr monitoring on a Holter Monitor so we'll see what happens.

I was going to take off two weeks before I'm due. But I've been feeling like it's getting harder and harder every day. I work in the city and I stopped taking the train and taking the car in with my DH instead, but it's even hard with that because we have to walk a number of blocks from the garage to the office. Then I have to drive on my own back home which is an hour with traffic with a terrible urge to pee plus a dull ache in my lower belly the entire time. I don't know how other women work til the end... I really admire and have a tone of respect for women who can!

I get PVC's as well, and I've been told they are completely normal and most people get them but just do not notice them.  Did you just start getting them during pregnancy?  My understanding is that if you are otherwise healthy, they are not a cause for concern.

  • My original plan was to work until I had the baby, especially because my job is closer to the hospital than my house is. Unfortunately, my store owner had a traumatic pregnancy, and is uneasy with me being here even now. We've compromised that my last official day will be the 21st of this month (I'm due on the 3rd) but I can still come in after that if I'm feeling up to it since we'll be swamped. My replacement has already started, so it's sort of an awkward power struggle at this point, but I've cut down to part time hours so it isn't bad.

  • I chose didn't work before, but I'm a SAHM.
  • I'm on vacation Dec 20-Jan 2. If I don't have the baby in that time I plan to return to work. I'm due Jan 7.

  • My last day will be Jan. 3! Can't wait! I know many work till the end, more power to you, especially if you have more kids, etc. But I'm not feeling guilty about taking two weeks to myself before baby gets here since its my first. And, baby could come early for all I know. I really am tired already and want to clean the room and finish all the small projects I want to do.

  • I'm working up until I pretty much go into labor, but I totally wish I was done right now (I'm 36 weeks 1 day). It's getting really rough and tough for me to go into work and actually get things done (I have a physical job).

    Its a surprise! Team green!

  • I had planned on working as long as my doc would let me.  However after Monday's shift I laid on my living room floor and cried for hours from pain, so I'm debating just asking her to take me off work now.  If my job wasn't so physical I would work till the end.

  • I would loose my mind if I took time off before LO came...I'd be waiting every day for something to happen! I'll work til I go into labor, or if I'm told by my doctor that I need to stop working. IF I had no other choice and had to leave work for medical reasons obviously I would and I'd deal with it, but since my pregnancy is going smoothly (I'm so thankful that it is) it just didn't make sense for me to take any time off before I absolutely had to.

  • I'm pretty much working until I go into labor, unless I haven't had her by February 1st, and in that case, I'm on official maternity leave. I hated to have to set a date, but my boss needed to know something concrete in order to facilitate coverage

  • I worked until the day I had DS. I was planning on doing the same this time, but my boss is insisting that I work from home the last week before my due date.  He has 5 kids and says he wants to avoid me going into labour at work, especially since my commute is 40 minutes each way and DH works beside our house.
I won't disagree with him, I have no problem working from home, I barely do anything these days anyhow.

  • My last day is 12/20, next Friday.  California covers 4 weeks prior to due date for STD that does not subtract from the time you get after baby arrives, so I am taking advantage of about a week and a half of that (I'll be 38w1d on my last day of work).  If I worked in a field that did not need someone covering my position (I'm a nurse), I may have decided to work until going into labor.  That, combined w/ the holidays, made the 20th make the most sense to step out, as I would have had to use PTO to cover 3 1/2 days over the following 2 weeks, and I'd rather just be out.

  • I SAH now but with DD I worked up until 36 weeks which is where I am now...I couldn't have worked longer my body was so swollen and sore. I actually should have quit sooner but I wanted to work as long as possible.

  • I wish I had a scheduled date but if I go out early, it means less time with baby once he arrives since I get the covered 12w from FMLA.

  • I'm still working, but like OP said I'm about ready to punch somebody in the face.  My tolerance level for BS is gone.  I'm totally over it.  I'm due on 1/4, but I'm already starting to dilate and today I've had some ridiculously sharp back pain.  I better not last until 1/4.  Come on baby...
  • On maternity leave now until January 20th.  I got my 12 weeks of FMLA.  I don't want to go back to work ever.  Lol, maybe they'll fire me when I go back and I collect unemployment and stay home.  No?  Bad idea? lol.

  • Define working...  If you call showing up every day and putting in a little bit of work in between surfing the net and being on the bump then yes I am totally working until I deliver.  I have just mentally checked out weeks ago and hoping no one notices until I am on leave.
This until Friday of this week - CAN'T WAIT!! I am measuring over 40 weeks pregnant and am just miserable.
