Whoa.  I need more details on this!  So you're in the garage?  Did you have towels or anything? It sounds so cold.  Were you and baby able to keep warm?  How long till the ambulance arrived?

This is exactly what I was thinking!!! Congrats on your LO and i am so glad everyone id OK, but I would LOVE more details if you ever feel up to it. If not, its not my business and I get it, but I am slightly fascinated by this story...

  • Crazy story! Congrats!!

  • Wow! I'm glad everything turned out ok. I'm curious , How did you cut the cord?

They cut it in the ambulance with something that looked like an exacto knife. I didn't deliver the placenta until they were wheeling me into my room at the hospital. The ambulance guy left too much cord though so the nurses ended up redoing it once we got here.

It happened so fast that we had nothing. I had been walking laps around the driveway while we waited for the ambulance. All of a sudden I ha to stop walking and lean over the trunk of dh's car (in the driveway). She started crowning, dh and mil got me to lay down on the garage floor (didn't even notice how cold the concrete was) and they barely got my pants off before her body was out. Mil ran and got blankets as soon as fiona was out and we stayed like that covered until the ambulance arrived. Not sure how long it took. Seemed like forever, but it was probably only 5 or 10 min.

  • Fiona Grace is here! After approx. an hour long labor she was delivered by dh and mil in our garage because the ambulance we called when we realized we werent making it to the hospital didn't make it in time. 6#12oz. 18.5". Had a rough time regulating blood sugar and body temp at first but is doing better after some sugar water and formula. I tried to get her to nurse but she was just too sleepy. We obviously did not have time to do the antibiotics during labor (I was gbs+ this time) so I'm hoping her blood work comes back ok. I had a feeling it would be a fast labor as ds2's was only 5 hrs, but no way in hell did I think dh and mil would be delivering her in our garage.

Omg I saw a pic of you and beautiful Fiona on a friends Facebook. I'm from the burgh and know Leeann as well! We went to high school together! Hope you are both doing well!
  • Wow baby girl certainly knows how to make an entrance! Congrats and I hope you both are doing well!

Small world! I was actually hanging out with her last night and we were joking that she might have to just take me in if I went into labor since dh was at the pens game.
