1st Trimester

Baby #2, #3, or more?

Hi moms!
I am only 6 weeks in and feel like I'm going to go insane having to wait until we can find out what we're having! lol... we didn't find out with our son, but plan to find out with this babe.  With my first pregnancy, I was hardly emotional, had horrible back pain, no food aversions, and suddenly loved chocolate for the first time in my life.  This time around (i know its only the beggining! lol) I am a mess lol... i cry all the time, and have no control over my INSANE mood swings.  I haven't really had any back pain, and suddenly cannot fathom the idea of several foods .... especially my (now, since #1) favourite - chocolate.

Just curious ... comparing your pregnancies, what were symptoms you dealt with, and what did you end up having? and how are you feeling this time around compared to your first (or other) pregnancies?

Re: Baby #2, #3, or more?

  • I was really stressed out because they were unplanned, my now husband and I were going through a rough patch and I was super emotional. This time around it's a different story and I'm not as emotional and I generally having more symptoms. I think I was in denial the first few weeks with my boys.

  • With DD I was emotional and my boobs hurt so bad. I was constantly nauseous, dry heaved all the time and wanted sugar all the time. This pregnancy, I've still had a few ugly cry moments, my boobs don't hurt (but I'm also breastfeeding) I've actually thrown up twice and I'm craving salty foods. I dunno yet what we are having

  • My first pregnancy, I was extra emotional and nauseous for about 20 weeks.  I was working that time, so it was a good distraction.  My second pregnancy I was sort of queasy for most of the 1st trimester and crabby, but it was pretty easy.  So far for #3 I am tired, SICK (nauseous and throwing up) and emotional.  This pregnancy is most like my first, but more intense.

#1 was a boy, #2 was a girl, and we will find out #3 in July :)

  • With my DD I felt pretty good, besides being tired I felt normal.  Having such and easy pregnancy is why I was not worried about having two so close together.  This one is still not horrible by any means, but it is a lot harder.  I am exhausted and feel pretty icky, and I have a 14 month old to chase around all day.  It could be WAY worse though.

  • With DS#1 I had perfect skin, never got sick and felt amazing the whole pregnancy, DS #2 I was a little queazy for a few days but that was it. Not really emotional with either of them. This baby (#3) I have been really sick for weeks, having terrible breakouts and cry at the drop of a dime…not sure what this baby is yet.

  • My pregnancy with DS1 and DS3 (this pregnancy) have been very very similar. Very hungry, mild nausea but nothing bad.

My pregnancy with DS2 was totally different...crazy food aversions, really nauseous, could barely eat. I was positive he was a girl but he is definitely a he!

  • This is our 4th (we will be 4u5).  We joke that I should just save the $15 for the pregnancy tests and just spend $1 on a chocolate bar because with all 4 pregnancies I have a HUGE aversion to chocolate/sweets (which non-pregnant I have a HUGE sweet tooth).  Oddly enough I only like banana peppers when I'm pregnant.  I've never had morning sickness in any of them and this is the first time around that I have a touch of nausea but I'm still breastfeeding so I think that's it and I'm trying to increase foods, etc. (I was breastfeeding when I got pregnant with #2 but our baby quickly weaned because some don't like the change in the milk once you get pregnant).  I have a boy and 2 girls so I agree with others that symptoms mean nothing.  We never found out the sex of our babies but this time DH says he wants to be different and find out but I'm very opposed to it so we'll have to see what happens when the time comes.
  • I don't think the word fathom means what you think it means... unless you really can't understand the idea of certain foods...

The whole "pregnancy symptoms are related to sex" thing is a total myth that sticks around because old wives tales are fun to joke around about. Your body will react differently to each pregnancy based on your own hormones. My grandma had 4 boys and every pregnancy was totally different... she was hoping for a girl each time so she would sort of make up symptoms and sex scans did not exist then lol The mind is a powerful thing!

  • My first two pregnancies were COMPLETELY different - both girls.  All pregnancies are different and it means nothing.

  • With DD I felt great.

With DS I had ms until 13 weeks & felt like I got hit by a train the entire time.
