Bassinet

So I know we discussed the RNP being okay to sleep in a few days ago, but I was curious about bassinets in general.  STMs have you had issues in the past with DS/DD making their way to the side and getting wedged (like facing into the wall)? I hadn't really thought about this until I read the tiny print Warning label on the side. I have the Graco Day2Night system so the sides of the bassinet are solid. I'm most likely being overly paranoid, it wouldn't be the first time.

We had a bassinet with dd. She was in it and then one morning I found her smooshed in the corner. She was moved to her crib shortly after. I still used the bassinet for naps but I am feeling more nervous about it this time around. I think it is ok until she rolls in her sleep. Once she did that, we dropped the swaddle too. The mattress on this one us about an inch and not really easy to get wedged but my dd did love sneaking into corners

This is the one we have https://www.amazon.com/Carters-Soothe-Sleep-Bassinet-Bumble/dp/B004AZQZBY/ref=pd_sxp_f_i

  • We didn't have a problem with that but I also occasionally used the wedges (little foam triangles to keep them in the center). You could just use rolled up receiving blankets up only as high as their armpits.
  • No advice as a FTM but I got big snorting laugh over my DH getting wedged in the bassinet : P

Haha! I just saw this. Forgive my pregnant brain.

And now I have DH pictured in a tiny bassinet...it's a little disturbing

If I remember right, the wedges aren't recommend and have caused more trouble than they're worth. DD always rolled to her side when swaddled and slept fine in the bassinet. The sides of ours are mesh like breathable and it was never an issue. I wouldn't worry about it ;)

  • We had a bassinet for DS2. He outgrew it in length and weight before his rolling over was a problem.
