Mom outed baby name on facebook!

Ugh so frustrated my mother just outed our baby name on facebook. She commented on one of my posts about heartburn "Well thats because baby Gage has a lot of hair lol" We have only told family our name and I posted it on here but you ladies don't really know us so it is different. I am so frustrated I was excited for my friends to find out the for the first time after he came.

    I would be so sad!

    I don't really have a problem announcing a name, unless I have a friend or two that is also having a baby before me (I don't want to give them a chance to steal it!). I do have two friends that are having babies before I have this one but they are more distant friends (old friends from childhood that I don't talk to much that live thousands of miles away from me).. So if they take my name it wouldn't be a big deal to me.

    But I can definitely see why you'd want to keep it a surprise! It makes it special to announce the birth of a baby and share the child's newly given name. Did you tell your mom how you feel? I mean, no need to get mad at her or anything (she probably had no idea!) But just politely say "hey mom, we were wanting to keep the name a secret between just us and our family. Do you mind not mentioning it again in your future facebook posts or conversations?"

    Oh no she didn't!!! My mom knows just enough about FB to be dangerous. We have to be very clear with her when it's okay/not okay to post something! I'm just waiting for her to do something like this.

    Yeah I would have deleted it right away. I had a number of friends make comments I was pregnant before it was FB official. I had delete at least 4 different comments

    Unfortunately a lot of older people don't know what they're doing on FB. I've had my grandfather write a very uncomfortable post on my wall about my stance on abortion. Yeah...

    I would be very upset about this.  I would delete the comment immediately.  

    Personally, we haven't shared the gender of the baby nor the names we've picked.

    My sister did the same thing with announcing my pregnancy!! By the time I was ready to post no one was excited because they had already known for months!!! :(

    I hate Facebook and family because of things like that..my brother in law announced on Facebook that we were pregnant (with our ds) the moment we told him. We hadn't even told my family yet!! They found out from his status. I threatened his life this time and then my MIL announced we were having another boy this time before my dh could even call and tell his sister!..my husbands family is now banned from knowing anything baby before it's Facebook time

    So frustrating! My DHs aunt posted the sex of the baby when we hadn't told everyone. I was furious!

    My mother posted a pink quilt on FB and I didn't even know it, then I get phone call from my friends saying I didn't know you were having a girl!?!?!?! Ummmm well that is news to me cause we didn't find out.  I found the picture on FB and ppl were assuming that I was having a girl after she posted it and said the Quilt I am making! I had to do damage control with friends because they thought I was lying to all of them.  So no one knows names or sex of the baby.  So I totally understand your pain!
