@ColleenSwerb - Im in complete agreement that people should nurse how they choose based on their comfort level. One example of what I'm talking about is one person said "Changing rooms are for changing, not for eating" or "i would not want a blanket on me while eating". Comments like these can come off as negative toward people who are not comfortable nursing openly.
I fed DD in the Frankfurt airport last year. I had her inside the moby wrap and cozy and warm. Are flight to the US was canceled due to the hurricane that hit NYC area so we had a longer layover.
No one is saying that you can't use a cover or find a dressing room...it was the fact that the "fitting rooms aren't that far away?" comment implied that the woman should have sought a dressing room out to feed her baby instead of doing it where she pleased.

That was one persons perspective. Several people have posted saying they prefer to cover or find a quiet place and no one has jumped on them or shamed them. If you just want to get your nose out of joint go ahead, but it's pretty transparent.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
However it was meant, I took it to mean she SHOULDN'T have sought out the dressing room. then the following comments on how a dressing room isn't for eating lunch. With that argument you can eliminate a lot of place to feed a baby. Target is for shopping---not for eating lunch. The airport is for traveling--not for eating lunch.
I kind of think you took it the wrong way then.

I completely agree with the who cares- do whatever you want. I have such anxiety about the process of nursing working for me I can't guarantee that I won't run around yelling "it works it works! We can do it!" Topless with the LO attached.

Um, yea, I seriously eat in airports ALL the time. At the gate, on the way to a gate, in a restaurant, on the floor near a gate. I would beg to differ. There is not much to do in airports BUT eat.
ETA Saw a later comment. I guess in my next 4 hour layover I'll have to avoid eating?? Look, I honestly don't care and don't think its worthy of a debate. BF wherever you want, don't BF at all even! But, lets just be realistic about places people actually eat when using it as an argument against being "allowed" to publicly feed your child. I'll do what I want. You can side eye me in the airport and I'll still do what I want.
Im surprised if anyone is advocating nursing in the bathroom (and I don't consider the awesome mom room at Nordstroms to be a bathroom, I mean in a stall on the toilet). There's a reason that laws protecting BFing working moms specify that the place to nurse/pump cannot be a bathroom. Though I guess if someone prefers that, go for it, just don't expect others to feel the same way.

Yes Lounge for Women in Bathroom =/= Nursing in a Bathroom in my eyes... I loooooove me some Nordstrom's women's lounges.
Maybe I'm 100% wrong, but when I hear someone say "I'm just more comfortable nursing in the bathroom" (again, I'm talking a stall in a public restroom -- not a lounge), I feel like they really mean "I'm afraid of the looks I might get if I'm nursing more publicly." Which makes me bummed they don't feel confident nursing somewhere that is more comfortable than a cramped stall (not because I think THEY are weenies...I just wish the general public was more welcoming to them).
If I'm wrong and nursing in a stall is seriously your jam, rock out!
I agree with the major 'who cares' here. I've posted before about how women saying 'I wouldn't like eating MY lunch in a bathroom' *to me* implies that women who choose to feed there for whatever reason shouldn't be doing so. Similarly, turning breast-feeding into some feminist women's lib movement really annoys the shit out of me. 'Breasts are for feeding! You shouldn't hide them! Nursing in public is perfectly acceptable no matter where! If you don't you're setting us back! We have to change people's attitudes towards BFing so the only way to do that is to NIP!' These comments haven't all been made here, but these are comments I've heard when I discuss my choice not to openly NIP in the future.
Just do what you want to do and respect others that don't want to. NIP-go for it! Don't want to? Don't! Let's stop shaming each other into one side or the other.
Edit - Posted too soon, mobile sucks
This. FTM here, but I'm pretty sure that BFing will be hard enough without being told when, where, and how to do it.

I probably would've sat in one of the rockers that were on display
I did that at BRU once.
The BRU closest to my house has a changing/nursing room over by the restrooms, with nice padded changing tables and a rocker for BFing. I used it w/DS once; funny how what's supposed to be a 15 minute in-and-out turns into 45 minutes. Lol
