help! cling on 16 months old

I'm at a loss and becoming frustrated. My DS won't let me even look away from him before he has countless temper tantrums. He won't play, eat or anything just wants to sit on my lap the whole day and scream or cry if I even blink. It's hard to do homework or make dinner or even pee. How do I get this behavior to stop. I know it sounds wrong but if I'm getting ready for work....I put him in his room while he has his temper tantrum and shut the door. I just can't deal with it much longer. He wakes up moody. Threw his breakfast this morning because I went to the bathroom. He isn't like this for the baby sitter.

  • i agree with theresat858.  Are you sure he's not teething or getting a cold or something?  My DS is almost 15 months and he has literally wanted to be held all week.  It is very frustrating at times but I know he's getting in some molars and has a sore throat and stuffy nose (we all do).  Sometimes I have to put him in his crib to cry to get a few things accomplished.  I also have a 34 mo and can't just ignore her.  But mostly I just give as much extra snuggles and love as possible and let the dishes pile up.

If it's not teething it's probably just a phase of separation anxiety and it will get better. Unfortunately, it's not a behavior you can stop.

  • Yup, seems like he is getting the molars. My 15 month old has been acting the same. He never liked to sit in laps or be really clingy, but these days he is. I am sure this is a phase and will pass too!
