hyperemesis gravidarium

I'm 10 weeks now with Hyperemesis, I've been in bed since week 5. It has been so hard, no being able to eat what I want or drink, and always having this feeling of fatigue .. Can't wait until this is over so that I can enjoy my pregnancy.. Any one out there with this condition??

Re: hyperemesis gravidarium

  • I had it with my first, and it was the most miserable experience of my life. You will find a lot of great resources, as well as support forums on this site: https://www.helpher.org/

Once I started to feel the baby move, it became a little more "worth it", and a little less completely helpless. I know what you're going through, and I'm so sorry you need to deal with this. If you need someone to talk to, you can inbox me. Support is such an important thing while facing HG. I found having someone to talk to that had been through it and was going through it with me helped so much.

Hang in there, it will be over, and you'll come out the other end.

  • I had it with my twins. I couldn't do anything. Not even surf the internet. I couldn't take a shower. Nothing. I lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks until my doctor saw me and scolded me for not telling her how sick I was. My hubby tried to tell her nurse, but she blew it off. Finally was able to get an Rx for Reglan, which helped tremendously. I know your pain. I had to continue taking it round thr clock, every 6 hours, because if I skipped a dose, I was SICK again. I have never been that sick in my life, as I was during my pregnancy.
  • Also-I was unable to eat or drink anything, but maybe once a day in the evening I was able to drink a very watered down glass of Riptide Rush gatorade, as long as it was ice cold.  I'm sorry you're experiencing this! I don't know if you're willing to take medication, but Reglan was a miracle drug for me. Within 24 hours of taking it, I was swimming with my kids and eating. It was amazing. Zofran and Phenergan wouldn't even touch my nausea. I was very lucky to be able to get some relief.

  • I've had it since about 7 weeks. I'm almost 19 weeks now and I see no end in sight. Helpher.org is an awesome support site, as PP mentioned. I have depression and anxiety, which has been a million times worse. It's hard when you're pregnant (this is my first pregnancy), you're supposed to be so happy and excited and all you can do is lay and bed and cry. I really, really hope that I'll be able to enjoy my pregnancy at some point. As someone told me, just remember it's not forever, and most cases go away by second tri. I don't think this is the case for me, but hopefully you can get some relief soon.

I've follow you on the TTGP grad check ins. I swear, it's like reliving exactly where I was at that point. I suffer from anxiety and depression also, and HG just tears you down to this awful place. And I know how guilty you feel for not being the happy pregnant woman, especially after trying to get pregnant. Breaks my heart seeing someone else going through that. Just wanted to let you know I'm praying for you, and hope hope hope that yours lets up soon, or they find a better med regime for you.
  • I had it starting at about week 5 and ended up on a Zofan pump. I'm one of the lucky ones and was weaned off successfully at 16 weeks. Good luck.
