I don't understand why babies love it so much, but they just do. And when they're miserable and cranky from teething and you can hand them Sophie and they immediately start nomming on it, you won't regret the money you spent on it.
Target has a similar adorable elephant for cheaper that I heard works just as well. I personally wouldn't have spent $20 on Sophie but ours were gifts which I gladly accepted.
I've spent more than $20 combined on several other cheap teethers and she still prefers Sophie more than any others. It saves you money in the long run that you would waste on ones he wouldn't like!

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm just kicking myself for not buying it for Scarlett almost three years ago, then I would already have it and not still be thinking about it!
thanks for asking. I have been wondering as well and wishing I got one for the previous 2 so I wouldn't be contemplating whether to do it now. Thinking it will be a stocking stuffer since I won't be putting much in the stocking. Maybe...
I think they lace it with crack.

I have the elephant one from Target, its Infantino brand... They have it in an elephant and a money for $13 normally but it is on sale for $10 right now :-) LO adores it!
A has started loving on Sophie lately. I don't get it either. Our dog gets it though. Its the only toy of A's that she thinks they should share. So Sophie now lives in my car. Bonus she is nice and cold when we get in the car so extra nice on teething baby gums.
Is it sad I am considering get the dog her own Sophie?!?!
Parker loves Sophie. He gets so upset driving in the car but is better with that dumb giraffe. I don't get it. He has other teethers but couldn't care less for them. I got mine as a gift but I see myself buying a replacement at some point. Sophie tried to run away 3 times at the mall on Black Friday (we almost her haha)
I don't want to sound dumb but what about a latex allergy since she is made from natural rubber?
That's a good point. While it's possible that Finn could be allergic, it's not probable. He also hasn't been repeatedly exposed to latex, either, so he's most likely all set. I'm trying him on bananas soon and if he's allergic to those, he won't be getting a Sophie.
Hands down my older DDs favorite toy at this age, and DS is definitely getting interested now that she is willing to "share" her with him. Sadly we are on our third overpriced rubber giraffe because the first two met an early demise to the jaws of doggies.
I got a free Spohie with credit card reward points. My boys weren't too excited about her, maybe this baby will be. Try selling it your DH as a prop for a photo shoot. Those "Sophie munching" photos are adorable, and if you're paying $$ for photos, what's another $20 for a prop?

LO would probably be more in love with Sophie if I gave it to her longer. I just cannot stand the noise. Not the squeaking - that is fine. I am talking the gums on rubber noise. Oh man...it kills me.

I've heard that a ride through the dishwasher can take away the squeak... @scarlett1978 it might take the spots off, too, but hey!
Ben loves her. Though he does yell at her a lot too. I'm not sure why, but it's funny. Over thanksgiving my parents could not believe how much Ben loved her and they got a kick out of watching him with her. My husband is all about Christmas being for splurging or buying things you wouldn't really buy....I'm usually more practical, but with my husband's mentality Sophie for a Christmas present is a no brainer. Here are some pics for inspiration.

Sophie's legs and neck are nice and thin, very easy for LO to grasp. The feet and head are perfect for gnawing.
Plus it's natural rubber and food grade paint (is that such a thing?) and just adorable.

But she LOVES it. She just gets a little frustrated that she can't fit all the tags in her mouth at the same time.
