Usually I quote a song here. But I’m just going to point out that in Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want” R. Kelly sings “I could be the drink in your cup.” I’m sorry, based on his history, I really don’t want him to put anything of his in my cup, y’know? Pissssssssss
Executive Summary: i dunno. Snooze bars and music?
                -My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.

Re: UO Recap: Aborted for music talk edition
@Estwd2 doesn’t believe in soul mates or love at first sight. I believe people have a lot of someones they could potentially get along with and lust at first sight, although LoisLayn made a point later about chemical attraction.
The idea of 2under2 sounds like living hell to @Drea926. Same boat.
@FhSTAR81 thinks demanding people shop at certain stores for your Xmas gifts is ridiculous.
Still untaggable Little Jerry thinks it’s weird when people post on FB looking for a babysitter. Others think it’s just the way we communicate now a days.
@chapski doesn’t care for Elf on the Shelf, specifically that he supposedly is a spy for bad behavior yet typically gets in trouble himself.
@justAphase points out the UO thread started way too early
@Drea926 thinks there’s a certain point where asking friends to help you move is ridiculous. Fairly unpopular, but I have her back on this one, especially as a man over the age of 30. There’s a point where your back really just can’t take moving heavy furniture all day anymore. I think there’s stuff people can help with (wrapping breakables, going through the basement), but when it comes to the actual move, hire movers or find some 15-20 year old nephew/cousins who wanna make a few bucks.
@GhostMonkey doesn’t get why people obsess over age gaps, which induced discussion.
@Luhdashuh didn’t like the FB trend last year of taking a picture of your Xmas tree with presents and tagging #blessed. I think those people don’t understand what that word means. Both Christians and Atheists can agree that true blessings come not from material wealth but from the love of family and friends. It’s nice to feel fortunate for your material goods of course.
@-auntie- feels that new clothes are covered in gross chemicals, specifically new Xmas PJs.
@angelashly thinks kids and work are overrated. I’m not sure who over rates work.
@missyishere thinks hitting the snooze button is dumb. SHE IS SO RIGHT. Seriously, the worst possible thing you can do to a partner is set your alarm before they have to get up, then get up and snooze, then get up and snooze. Thanks, you just ruined your partner’s last hour of sleep, jerk. Wife used to be a snooze bar person, but the alarm will wake DS up, so now I’m her human snooze bar. That last 30 minutes of sleep after a snooze is shit sleep. This is my hill to die on today. Oddly unpopular!
@RondackHiker points out that tapas bars are the worst thing ever. I love tapas… at home. Tapas bars are ok if it’s happy hour and the plates are legit cheap. Otherwise it’s $8 for a tiny bit of food where you have to order six different plates. Rip off!
@IaminigoMontoya thinks most people who claim to not like country haven’t listened to it. Twang really gets to me, especially fake affected twang (Brad Paisley is one specific example). I do appreciate that Country songs often can tell a story much better than other genres. However, a lot of them idealize an Americana place/time that never existed. Should I get started on the blinding whiteness of every Country performer? nah. And yes, modern country singers tuh-wAng.
@jak554 can’t resist Darius Rucker.
To @MrsEll : it’s time for the recap. Wake up.
@CTGirl30 loves light up twinkling animals. (I don’t think “My daughter loves Xmas lights” is a UO?)
@scoutkate likes dressing her kid in themed clothing, like Nutcracker themed stuff for the nutcracker or Disney stuff for a disney trip. I think that’s cute on a little kid, but potentially expensive?
@Eleventy11 doesn’t think people should make money off health care. Morally I agree, in practical terms there are some challenges.\
Country music makes @mbenit4 ‘s stomach hurt like she has to shit.
@SGC29 thinks diet soda is nasty because it tastes flat. I think it’s more the artificialness of the fake sweetners (but I still drink it).
@ShadyPines920 thinks Tupac was just ok, and not in her top 5.
@Darbie914 thinks mommy blogs are annoying. I’m pretty sure this board agrees with that sentiment.
@CTGirl30 : Sorry I didn’t use your suggested title of Things that make us shit.
Confession: of @ShadyPines920’s top five list of rappers, I know who ONE of them is: Biggie. Ok, I have heard of Nas, but could not pick out his picture nor name a song of his. Are Weezy and Young Jeezy nicknames? T.I. is also a weird name.
@Sundae13 doesn’t like TWD or any post-apocalypse show or movie. She’s wrong, although the theme has been overdone lately.
- I think I need to do Dinovember next year. Sorry in advance, DW!
@JackoftheBox doesn't feel the need to send everyone a Xmas card, including family.
@reggybenny really likes her cock ring Fitbit. I actually kinda want one, if I can get past what it looks like.
@Sundae13 is over Christmas.
@ReeseFox is meh about Love Actually.
@DreadLoc thinks White Russians, one of the greatest drinks of all time, are an abomination because she doesn’t like Dairy + Booze.
Krampus!
@EVA116 wishes everyone would do a gift registry/list, especially for kids.
- How much does it cost to move from X to Y? You can learn in this thread.
@bbg676 points out that these days going to the theater to see a movie is overrated.
@Probrecita

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
I always thought that was Mase.

You have to understand, I'm a rock kid. Grew up on Nirvana and Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins, then went through a phase where I thought I was too cool for anything you'd hear on commercial radio and only listened to stuff like Bright Eyes and Spoon and The Decemberists and The Arcade Fire and The Postal Service. I like some rap, but if it doesn't get played on the radio, I probably haven't heard it, with some exceptions (have a friend who is a Wu-Tang superfan).

It Ain't Hard to Tell - have not heard it
If I Ruled the World - probably heard it once or twice? not certain
Made You Look - new to me.
The beats in these songs reminds me of mushy pudding. I can see his technical skill, and maybe with a closer listen I'd appreciate his lyrics. But the beat and hooks really don't pull me in at all the way a lot of West Coast stuff does.

And when I lived in the upper midwest, you had to really search if you wanted to listen to rap that wasn't on MTV.

LD is MUCH OLDER!!!! [-X
SMH---
Next he will say he does not know who is Kelis
I only assume that is a rapper from context.
