I seem like a scrooge with all of mine, and I'm really not. I think I'm one of the most Christmas-crazed people I know, but people - just STOP it with these: ETA: it might help if I attached a pic.
This kinda goes along with my previous post on a thread, I don't see the appeal in britax. They're overpriced and there are much better options!
I haven't bought a convertible yet (my peanut is likely never growing out of her infant) but I have a Britax infant seat and two strollers and I LOVE them all!! Their customer service is amazing and I feel the products are really designed thoughtfully.
Elf on the Shelf is stupid. Not only are you essentially threatening your kid with a spy, but who the hell has time to pose them in situations that require clean up the next day?! I unfollow and/or hide people who feel its necessary to share their Elf's "behavior" on the reg. They will be unhidden in January.
Call me a Scrooge if you want.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
I've rediscovered this week that this may be unpopular but I just can't get into mourning the loss of a celebrity. I mean, the loss of anyone is sad and no one's family should have to go through it - I get that. But no one (on social media) seems too concerned with the other guy that died in the car with Paul Walker. Or all of the soldiers and kids with cancer dying everyday for that matter.
I feel the same way.
I also have a hard time when the media flips the eff out mourning self destructive celebrities that end up getting themselves killed. Unless they're spreading a message about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, all they're doing is glorifying irresponsible and dangerous behavior. Like that guy on Glee. Who the hell was he anyway?

100% agree. I also don't understand why the spy (who is supposed to be watching your behavior) is allowed to make snow angels out of flour and TP the Christmas tree - all things that would make the kid "naughty" if they did it.
EXACTLY! If I ever do something like that, I'd do this...

I get a kick out of some of the set ups my friend posts, but I do question why the elf is always getting into trouble. Isn't he there to just watch and go back to Santa? What is he doing getting tied up by ninja turtles? How will he get back to Santa? Lol when he does naughty things, doesn't that defeat the purpose of promoting positive behavior? But a flour snow angel never killed anyone
Because apparently there aren't enough social media based pissing contests for parents to get into with each other. lol

I do believe hate speech is covered under the free speech amendment. I do not think everyone agrees with everyone at all times and everyone has opinions and is judgmental about some things. Only a sheltered person would think otherwise, but if you choose to come out from under your rock, be aware that people might not like the things you do.. or who you are.

I agree for the most part and believe our military people deserve more media when it involves deaths and heroic acts way more than celebrities. I do like to talk about conspiracies concerning someone's death though.
I do not, however, like those people who say they are glad someone is dead or something along those lines. Celebrity or not.. there is no need to be that edgy.

This statement confuses me. Are you, for instance, saying that its okay for someone to call a person who is gay a "fag" to their face because they came out from under their gay rock and just need to understand that person's "opinion?"
Most hate speech focuses on attributes of a person's being - not opinions.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
We are doing Elf on a Shelf with Ava this year and she loves it. Basically it's just fun for her to look for her elf every morning- we don't do elaborate setups. Also, I dress my car like a reindeer
We have a britax for my 3 year old... Easiest car seat to install ever. DH's mom has a graco we use when we visit them and it's so hard to get it in as tight as I want. Also the latch clips on the britax are easier to use. I hate the price but it was worth it to me.
I'm agreeing with pretty much everyone today, don't like pepperoni (unless it's the uber thin kind that gets crunchy like bacon), I don't like the Elf on the Shelf thing. I really don't judge who/why/how people mourn someone's death but the comments, "He/she was so young/such a shame/prime of his life," kind of drive me up the wall.
I think raking leaves is ridiculous unless you are doing it to jump in them! To me it's like fighting nature where nature should be.

What I am saying is that people will call you whatever they feel is right to call you. Am I saying that it is okay? No, it is never okay to call someone names, but I would never take someone's right to say it away. When people do that, it speaks to their own character. Take for instance WBC, in most sane people's eyes they are a crazy demonic cult.
See what I did there? It was hate towards them as well. We all have it, we all do it. Some to more of an extent than others. People should not come out of the house expecting everyone be happy with their choices or who they are. That isn't how the world works. Understanding other's opinions is a whole other topic.

Oh, another one. I hate the taste of peppermint, ergo, I hate candy canes.
I just had this discussion with DH last night. He brought home some peppermint kisses and couldn't believe I didnt want one. I can not stand anything minty!

Well, not to mention - he was driving 90 MPH and not wearing a seatbelt. So while it is always sad when a young life is lost.... um... maybe slow the fuck down and wear a seatbelt, huh?

This is what really bugged me about Cory Monteith's death. The folks at Glee had a great opportunity to talk about the dangers of drugs and alcohol but they didn't even touch it. I was extremely disappointed, especially since they normally don't have an issue delving into hot topics.
I thought they did a good job, however, of tying it back to mental health, which I think was part of his problem, no?

Let me rephrase myself, britax strollers and britax infant/booster seats...cool. I think their convertibles suck. And are overpriced for how much life you get out of them. My graco will last me longer than any britax, their customer service is awesome, and not to mention I got TWO for the price of one.

I agree on the celebrity deaths. Maybe it was because my great uncle unexpectedly died on the same day as Walker, but I just did not care about it.
My possibly UO: I'm a teacher, and I don't think we should have to make up snow days at the end of the year. It's dumb. We don't have air conditioning, we don't get anything more done - it's just extra days of hot babysitting. The kids are so checked out by that point! (We got an early out yesterday due to a snow storm and a late start today due to crazy winds - we don't have to make those up, but if it's a whole day, we do.) I get that it's part of my contract to work so many days, and people will just say that I should feel lucky for getting the summer off, but those extra days at the end of the year are completely pointless. Rant over.
Oh, another one. I hate the taste of peppermint, ergo, I hate candy canes.
I am stupidly obsessed. In the house right now I have peppermint Oreos, peppermint ice cream, peppermint air freshener, peppermint candles... I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but you get the gist of it
@briannah1010 have you ever had made from scratch eggnog? I think that stuff from a carton tastes like bubble gum, but I LOVE homemade eggnog (the boozy kind, of course). Yum! Can't wait!
Snickers candy bars....... are literally the worst.
Sacrelige, darling.
Exactly...throw one of those bad boys in the freezer? Heaven.
My UO...Pepperoni is disgusting.
One of the craziest cases I've handled involved a pig breeding operation. Our client said that pretty much the only thing they can make out of boar (male pigs) is pepperoni because they are really tough. That pretty much ruined pepperoni for me. Well, that and hearing all about how they collect semen from boars to inseminate sows. Those guys don't get paid enough.
I guess this is my UO...I can't believe some of your schools close for snow days. Hurricane Katrina (or some other equally devastating natural disaster) is one thing, but snow!!! School is never cancelled/closed here. Ever. Busses won't run if its -30C but other than that the school is open. Teachers go to work and teach the kids that show up.
