I posted a thread a couple weeks ago, my mom had a mammogram that "saw something". She had the biopsy...unfortunately it's not the news we'd hoped for. She was diagnosed with breast cancer the day before thanksgiving

Thankfully, it's 2013 and it is treatable. She'll be having a mastectomy sometime before Christmas and hopefully be able to jump this hurdle like the strong bad bitch I know she is! I'm having a hard time with the fact that she'll have to have chemo but I want them to be sure it's gone.
I just wanted to say thanks to all the ladies that responded to my initial post, it really made me feel better and not so alone

I'm the oldest of 4 so I'm the strong one keeping things together and it's tough especially during the holidays and with all these damn emotions! It really makes me realize that I have so much to be thankful for.
Ok I swear I'm normally not a touchy feely let's talk about our feeeeeeeeelings girl, but sincerely thank you!
Re: Just wanted to say thanks-update on my mom
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

I know your mom can beat it too! You're such a great daughter for holding it together for her and the family. I'm sure she appreciates it more than you'll ever know!

To help ease your fears, my mom has had breast cancer 4 times. The first time, I was 6 years old and she had the worst possible strain of it! Over the years, she's had a mastectomy, chemo, lumpectomies, radiation and last year, she had a final mastectomy on the remaining side.
I'm sending T&P for a speedy recovery!!
so sorry you didn't get good news! you are right though, it's 2013 and it sounds like they caught it early!
i'm sure her being a strong bad bitch is going to help a whole lot too

Praying all goes well with your mother's surgery and treatment. I'm sure you'll be a strong woman for your family. Your mom will kick cancer's ass!
Yeah my mom told me about the biopsy and she got a couple markers too, I think to track spreading....that shit is serious! And poor babe has a hard time with numbing stuff (dentist can never get her all the way numb, and numbing didn't work for her biopsy) so the whole thing was a hard way to start things off. She had a meeting with her "team" of doctors today and is feeling so much better and positive and ready to kick it. Thanks so much for your input and positivity!
