STMs- are you more relaxed this time?

I'm just wondering if you are more relaxed this time around or still nervous/ anxious about pregnancy? I think I am much more relaxed this time around. I'm not sure why but I'm not worrying near as much. I don't have many symptoms so that makes me a tad nervous but I didn't really have any last time either until about 6weeks. Last time, I was very nervous about EVERYTHING. This time, I'm just taking it day by day!

  • Not really.  With my loss history I'm pretty high strung

  • So far.  I didn't worry that much while pregnant with DS though in terms of all the "what ifs".

Not really any symptoms here either, but I'm dreading the 1st tri fatigue + my 3 year old.  I know it's coming, but I'm hoping it won't be such a surprise this time.

  • I still have the first trimester jitters. But I will be more relaxed once appts start to go well and I enter the 2nd tri

  • Nope, I'm also coming out of a loss so I doubt I'll relax until I'm fully into the 2nd trimester.

Ugh the bump hates me tonight.... What I'm trying to say is I am more nervous about feeling terrible with a two year old running around. I was so ill with my first. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Day to day I am more relaxed for sure. However, when I actually think about the possibility of a loss it makes me far more emotional then when i would think about it with my first pregnancy. I know what I have to loose now and that scares me.

This is me too. Knowing what I could possibly lose if something goes wrong is terrifying. I also think I know a lot more about what could go wrong and I'm comparing everything to my first pregnancy so far this one is very different.

  • I am a little more relaxed about trying to control who knows and when and details like that. I'm too distracted raising a 16 month old to care quite as much.
Also, hi. This is my introduction.
That's how laid back I am this time around, haha. Who needs to make a whole new post?

  • I am more relaxed but I don't think it's hit me yet.  Maybe cause I don't have any real symptoms yet?

  • Nope. Actually I was the least stressed with my first pregnancy. It was normal and everything was fine. Each subsequent loss I've had has made me more nervous/anxious about it.

    Yes, this exactly!

With my son I was coming straight off a miscarriage and was extremely anxious the entire first trimester (okay... pretty much the whole pregnancy.) I am definitely in a better head space now, but the worry never goes away.

This sums up my thoughts really well.
  • Not as worried. Def waiting for that first u/s or hearing the hb. Then after that I try not to think about the whatif's. They will drive you crazy!

  • I'm pretty much in total denial this time around. We were ready for #2 but it took us only 1 time to get KU so I didn't really get a whole lot of time between "sure! Let's try" and "honey... I'm pregnant." I'm still processing. I started getting cramps today and I'm actually kind of relieved because it's finally a symptom, and symptoms mean its real... I'm waiting til Christmas to tell my family, and I always tell them everything, so it's hard in that respect too.

  • I am enjoying it this time around! When I was pregnant with DS I was young and scared. It was an unplanned pregnancy and my relationship wasn't in the best place with DS's father. I was an emotional wreck! This time I'm older and I know all these symptoms are so worth it! This pregnancy is intentional and I'm in the healthiest relationship with an amazing man. I am more relaxed bc I know more of what to expect and I have a better support system. I'm in a better place mentally, emotionally, romantically, and financially this time so I'm enjoying the ride so far!
  • Maybe? I was relaxed with my second pregnancy and then that one ended in a loss. I don't think I'm as nervous as I was when pregnant with DS and I try not to worry about this one. I haven't allowed myself to really "plan" ahead with this one yet.

I was really cool, calm and collected last time I was pregnant but it ended in a loss.  This time I'm a mess so I doubt I'll ever relax totally.
This is my thought exactly. I was relaxed with my second pregnancy which ended in a loss. Now I am more aware of the risk of MC and can't relax for a while. If I do end up with an August baby, I think I'll be more relaxed in the newborn stage, but pregnancy is going to be high anxiety for a while.

  • Not really.  I'm always anxious at the beginning (this is my 3rd).  Once I hear a heartbeat I feel a little better.  But, I never feel completely at ease until I have a healthy baby in my arms.  I'm TRYING to enjoy this pregnancy without all the little worries, at it should be my last.

  • I wish I could say I was more relaxed but I'm just as anxious and even more than the first time. With my first pregnancy I never (other than sore boobs for literally about 1 week) had any symptoms to speak of. I honestly didn't believe I actually was pregnant until I heard the baby's heartbeat at 11 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks but it still seemed so surreal and without actually hearing her heartbeat at that appt I couldn't believe it was real. Anyways... I was hoping to "feel" something this time so reassure me everything is ok but so far nothing. I know it's early I'm just a day over 4 weeks but I'm already driving myself crazy. :(

    sorry for the novel!

  • I'm less nervous about the actual pregnancy, but more nervous about keeping it a secret for the next month or so. I'm up for a promotion at work, and if anyone finds out there's a good chance I'll get passed over for it. I wish they'd hurry up and give it to me (or not) so I can quit freaking out about it.

  • @brittRMere - same thing happened to me with my 2nd pregnancy. I was up for promotion and had to keep it secret for a month and a half until they made the decision. I likely would have been passed up otherwise. You can do it!

  • I'm definitely Just As Nervous This Time But I'm Sure It Has To Do With The Fact I Had A Miscarriage The End Of October. I'm Waiting To Hear What My Betas Are From Yesterday And I'll Hopefully Feel Better. • I am definitely more lax when it comes to caffeine. With my DD I had no caffeine whatsoever and I dont think I could survive without just a little bit now. I'm more nervous bc i dont have as many symptoms as I did the first time around. With her I was nauseous 24/7 from day 1 so I never really worried. This time around my symptoms are the opposite, weird! I cant wait for our first US and then I think I will worry less!
  • No! No! NO! lol This STM is freaking out!!

I havent done this in 11 years (DD will be in 11 this coming January) and I was 19 when I was pregnant with her. Im 30 now and this pregnancy I seem to be worried about everything!!

I know the cramps are normal but you can bet your butt that when I woke up this morning with the lil annoying buggers yet, minus the killer boob pain, I immediately phoned the doc and went in for hcg blood count!

Over reaction on my part?  Im sure. lol But for some reason I am really on edge. Maybe because I know all of the things that can go wrong. Damn you Google!!! hehehe

I vowed to myself today that I would stay positive about this pregnancy!  So thats what Im gonna try my best to do! I wish all of us healthy and happy pregnancies! Yay!!

(Touches boobies, feels pain, ALL IS GOOD!)
    :D
  • @BrittRMere I'm in the same boat as you! Definately don't want work to catch on so hoping the whole showing earlier the second time around doesn't come too true! Generally, I'm more relaxed but can't really enjoy it until we have our first appt and hear a heartbeat. Also part of me is wondering what the heck have we done and how in the world are we going to handle our son (now 16 months) and an infant. We Definately wanted our kids close like this, but I fear a whole new level of crazy is going to be brought upon our household in August :-)
  • I'm not sure about more relaxed, but I'm definitely more distracted. I was working a ton when I was pregnant with DS, but having a toddler is a whole other level of busy. Also, we're in a much large house now, as opposed to the condo we were in with DS, so I have so much more work to do around the house. I cook way more now too and thankfully the sick hasn't hit me too hard just yet. I did finally go get a bag of decaf beans so I can start weaning down my caffeine intake again. I'm hoping to do the same Centering program I did with DS so I can have the group discussions to help keep the crazies at bay.

  • A little less anxious but still worried since its still so early! Have a repeat US in 2 weeks to see how baby is doing. I hope everything's OK. I don't have too many symptoms yet. I was high risk the first time (spotting, hypertension) so that im hoping this 2nd goes much more smoothly
