When do you know you need to use it? ?DS sounds "snotty" but there is no visible signs. ?Just wondering if it is just for really bad congestion or how you know when to use it.?
If I can see something up there, I use it. If the congestion is making it hard for him to breathe/nurse, I have used saline nose spray and then use the suction bulb. DS hates it, but I think it has helped. GL!
I have a related question: I use it all the time, but DS screams bloody murder when I do it and I feel terrible cause it sometimes takes me a few minutes to finish. Do you stop if they are crying too hard?
I tried mine yesterday and I can't get it to work. It said to squeeze the bulb than stick it in her nose and let it go slowly. Is this right? Maybe its a bad one it doesn't work at all! And I see the boogies up there

i usually use it when he is already a little upset, so i don't mess with a good mood. if it pisses him off worse, then i stop and deal with it later.
however, if i quit doing everything that made him mad, my kid would never be dressed.
I put the saline in before he goes to sleep and sometimes right before I use the suction. I do the suction right before he eats, that way I have something good to give him right after I piss him off. I worried about hurting him too but he always calms down immediately upon getting his bottle or a pacifier. I figure if it really did hurt he'd still keep crying.

I tried several kinds of 'booger suckers' before I found one I really liked (forgot to take the hospital one home). I bought the American Red Cross one from Target and it's awesome. You can also unplug the top and really clean it out. I highly reccommend it.

I second this. The ARC one is the best out of the 3 I've tried.

Make sure you're not sticking it up her nose, but rather toward the back of the nose. Also, if she'll let you, plug the other nostril while you release the bulb on the sucker--you'll get lots of good stuff out that way!!
