Is there hope? No fetal pole at 6wks 4days.... UPDATED

Hi ladies.  This is an ivf pregnancy, so I know the exact gestational age of 6wks 4days today.  I went for an ultrasound this morning and we saw an empty sac.  The doctor said that it likely is a blighted ovum miscarriage, but that he wanted me to return on Friday just to make sure there is no embryo there.  We did see a discoloration on one of the corners of the sac, but it was very hard to see...
My beta numbers were solid and my pregnancy symptoms are out of this world. Morning sickness hit me full force right at 6 weeks.  I have had no bleeding or any unusual symptoms.  This has totally blindsided me.
Has anyone had an experience such as mine, and when returned for another ultrasound there was  a fetal pole and heartbeat???
I'm freaking out here.  I'm so very bummed.

UPDATE: Well it looks like I'm out for sure. I started bleeding this evening.  I guess I'll try again within a few months... we'll see. sigh.

    It's not over until it's over...hopefully baby is just hiding. Fingers crossed for you.

    I'd ask over on PAIF as we IVFers usually have earlier U/S then fertiles. Alot of normal PG don't have their first US until like eight weeks. FX your little one catches up soon.
